July - September, 2019
Editor’s NoteDear members
Though five Chapters conducted the City round of India Heritage Quiz-2019, only three Chapters attended the State Round of the contest. The students would have experienced a Regional as well as National flavor if attended. It is also seen that some Chapters are sending their activities report to the HQ but not for “ Aitihya”. Forwarding a copy to the editor of Aitihya does not require further exercise. Thus, please forward.
Further, some Chapters are not responding at all. on this matter. Thus, it is once again requested that the activities report may be sent .for publication.
Wishing a Happy Dusshera and Diwali in advance

MessageI extend my Puja and Diwali greetings to all
our esteemed members and their families. While we revel in these festivals which are Pan Indian , there are numerous regional and local festivals which are observed in our State with great elan whether Baliyatra in Cuttack and other coastal districts, Sital Sasthi and Nuakhai in Western Odisha ,Rajo in many regions ,Thakurani Yatra in Southern Odisha and the numerous Tribal festivals in the Tribal dominant areas of the state. Festivals from outside have established their footprints in Odisha with a bang , Chhat from Bihar, Bolbam from the Northern states and Dandiya and Garba from Gujarat during Navratri. These festivals are gaining immense popularity and while as Indians we want a thousand flowers to bloom , we must not allow our festivals to whither away. These are all part of our local heritage and we must strive to preserve them.
VIRASAT is going to bring out a special issue on the local and regional festivals. Our Bhubaneswar Chapter Convenor is coordinating. It is my earnest request to you to help him to compile .
Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of
mankind. It is mighter than the
misghtiest weapon of destruction
devised by the ingenuity of man.
