A MONTHLY PUBLICATION DEDICATED TO OUR MEMBERS & THEIR DOGS June was a great month for NCNC…. Our annual water seminar which was held at Gaby and Martin’s pond in Lincoln was a great success. Our instructors for the seminar were NCNC’s own Lori Littleford, Laura Gallagher and Gaby Cohen. We began the day with a few get to know each exercises in the barn then moved onto some marking exercises. Once everyone seemed to have the general idea the group moved out to the pond. I loved seeing both old and new handlers introduce their dogs to the water and seeing the dogs react to the wet stuff. Some dogs’ innate abilities kicked right in while others decided to take this water thing a bit slower. By the end of the day all were swimming happily, met their new friend the boat and I think they are ready to come back for more. I was not at the advanced level seminar held the next day but I was told most of the dogs haven’t forgotten their duties over the winter and we may have several dogs ready to take our first test at the end of July. Thanks again to Gaby and Martin for sharing their pond and barn with us, our instructors for your wisdom and all of our helpers who cooked up lunch and stewarded for us. NCNC’s annual picnic was held on, oh my goodness the hottest day in 2 years! Thanks to Elisa and John Morozumi for chairing the event and our BBQ pit masters, Kevin Gallagher, Roland Parker and Todd Bridge. Elisa and John set up the picnic area beautifully to include tablecloth covered picnic benches, ice cold beverages and a ring for our CGC test. The picnic area was the envy of Vasona Lake County Park. During our club’s general meeting Hazel Jacoby was given an award of recognition and Pam Rubio handed out Living Legend awards to our sweet dogs who have graced us by turning 10 years old. June Gibson and crew set up an outstanding raffle which provided much entertainment. NH&R along with Ways and Means offered Newfy items for our perusal. Several games were played but due to the heat we kept that down to a minimum. The hot dog dunk was favored by all because we got to get wet and cool off. The CGC test had a 100% pass rate, yeah! Todd and Debbie Bridge surprised us all and set up a backdrop for family photos, what a treat! Thanks to everyone who braved the heat. I greatly enjoyed your company and loved being with our Newfy buddies in a relaxed environment. With 4th of July celebrations coming up Chexand Hazel have shown their own way ofsupporting our troops by joining OperationWelcome Home celebrations for troops comingback from war areas Chex works through thePleasanton Valley Humane Society as part ofthe Diablo Valley Flag Brigade that welcomeshome soldiers and presents them with a flag
The pictures show Chex welcoming back aMarine and waiting with another therapy dogfor a Marine to be escorted to the celebration As you can see the dogs are dressed as devildogs a motivational nickname for USMarines to welcome a Marine home He hasbeen given a Petting Officer pin by a Navyveteran for this duty At the end of eachcelebration all veterans join the honoree andtheir family for a picture The dogs that are partof the bottom picture represent dogs that werein the service which are held by a veteran

With 4th of July celebrations coming up Chexand Hazel have shown their own way ofsupporting our troops by joining OperationWelcome Home celebrations for troops comingback from war areas Chex works through thePleasanton Valley Humane Society as part ofthe Diablo Valley Flag Brigade that welcomeshome soldiers and presents them with a flag
The pictures show Chex welcoming back aMarine and waiting with another therapy dogfor a Marine to be escorted to the celebration As you can see the dogs are dressed as devildogs a motivational nickname for USMarines to welcome a Marine home He hasbeen given a Petting Officer pin by a Navyveteran for this duty At the end of eachcelebration all veterans join the honoree andtheir family for a picture The dogs that are partof the bottom picture represent dogs that werein the service which are held by a veteran
