This CHANGES Everything!

“For by grace you have been saved

through faith, and this is not your own do-

ing; it is the gift of God.” - Ephesians 2:8

This simple verse changed everything for Martin Luther and forms the basis for how we Lutherans look at God’s saving work. God’s gifts are all around and the opportunities of the ministry of love are

ever present. Our Sack Lunch Ministry is one of those acts of love for our community.

Over the last two months, we have seen a greater need and so in August we will assemble 60 bags. AND WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS! Donations are needed of fruit cups, individual bags of chips,

cans of soda, snack items, cheese, lunch meat, and bread. Some of the items you

are invited to bring any time during the month and others the week of. Donations of money will help, too. We also are in

need of help assembling and handing out. Let Pastor Paul know if you can help in anyway. Thank you.

Where do we find moments to share God’s

love? At the end of July’s handing out of sack lunches, a woman from the group that had gather noticed an old stationary bike in the back of my truck. This was a donation for the Thrift Shop; it was old

and I thought no one would want this. I gave her the bike, delivering it to her home in the surrounding neighbor and you should have seen the joy on her face and the expression of gratitude.

Look for those moments to be God’s love!

“Cheap grace is our church’s deadly enemy … Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again …. Such

grace is costly because it costs one’s life; it is grace because it cost God his Son’s life … Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son to be too dear a price to pay for our life.”

Dietrich Bonhoffer

MUSIC ACADEMY

Our Pinnacle Music Academy is off to a good start. We are offering private music lessons for Piano, Vocal, Guitar, Drums, Bass, Trumpet and more! David Gonzales is leading this new joint venture. We have a number of students that come in each week for vocal, piano and guitar lessons.

This is very exciting!

REFRESHMENTS

Please remember that each week we

need a volunteer to bring refresh-ments for the fellowship time after the first service on Sunday. There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex and we appreciate your help in making sure that there is something good to eat as we do a little bit of socializing be-fore our Sunday School class. Thank you.

MONTHLY SERVICE PROJECT

Our monthly service project for July is Christmas Toys in July. We will be collecting toys this month to give to the BCOF Ministerial Alliance, who

will in turn give to needy children at Christmas. Please bring your new toys, so we can bring smiles to children in our area.

DARING STEWARDS

We are a church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace — our church family is an evangelical mission center where courageous and wise stewards are grown. Congregational stewardship begins with a healthy understanding of gratitude and generosity. We have first received and therefore we give.

Therefore, developing a culture of gratitude and generosity is the focus for growing stewards in our congregation. Through the study of Scripture, we develop a trust in God’s abundance and strive to be faithful disciples and stewards. Thus, the formation of generous stewards is a lifelong journey, and one in which we accompany each other.

Relationship with God

Our practice of stewardship can begin by looking at how God has come down to us in love. Stewardship begins with God and how God has shown love for us. We are first receivers. We belong to God and all that we have belongs to God. Out of this receiving, we are freed in Christ to love, give and serve.

God comes down to us through creation. Stewardship begins at creation when God gave humanity dominion over all that God had made. God entrusted all of creation to our care — living creatures, plants, land, water and all that is. God has called us to care, nurture and preserve creation for future generations. How might we honor and care for God’s creation?

God calls us to be stewards through our baptism. In baptism we are

Con’t. claimed as God’s children and receive God’s grace. As stewards, we live out our callings as children of

God by sharing God’s grace with the world. How might we share God’s grace in our everyday lives? We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. For us as the ELCA, this faith comes through the good news of Jesus Christ and gives us the freedom and the courage to wonder, discover and boldly participate in what God is up to in the world. God comes down to us through the gospel. God so loved the world that God gave us Jesus. The gospel story is alive in us and written on our hearts. We are stewards of God’s good news. How might we share God’s story with our neighbors through our actions and words?

“Expect great things from God! Attempt great things for God!!!”

William Carey
