BEGINNER LEVEL

CRASH COURSE IN KNITTING: This fast-paced class is better suited to those who are re-acquainting themselves with the craft of knitting. ADVANCED BEGINNER LEVEL

PROJECT MONDAY: This is a great class for those who like to try out new projects but prefer to have an experienced knit-ter to help them through the tough spots. Bring your own pro-ject, pattern, yarn and supplies. DATES/TIME: Mondays, July 11 & 25, August 8, 15, 22 & 29, 11am-1 pm. FEE: $40. Instructor: Kim Dominic

TAKE IT ON TUESDAY: It is time to get out those trouble-some projects at the bottom of your bag and get them finished! Wherever you were stuck, there will be an experienced knitter on hand who can help you take it on. DATES/TIME: Tuesdays, July 5, 19 & 26 & August 2, 16 & 23, 2-4 pm. BUILDING IN COLOR KNIT-ALONG: Expand your knowledge of ways to “brighten up” your knitting by participating in this 11 session knit-along. Each session you will create a panel that explores a different kind of stitch incorporating color. DATES/TIME: All classes are Wednesdays, 5:30 pm –7 pm. July 6—Knit Below, July 20—Make One Purl, August 10—Elongated Stitch, August 24—Mosaic Stitch. FEE: $20 per ses-sion + Supplies. CROCHETED MITERED SQUARES Mitered squares add lots of visual interest to a scarf or shawl, especially when done in multiple colors (think using up orphan balls) or self-striping yarn. Learn how to construct them with single cro-chet, extended single crochet or double crochet, plus how to change colors. Date/Time: Saturday, August 13, 2-4 pm. Fee: $25 + Supplies. LITEN KOFTA (Small Cardigan): Make this classic,

HONEYSWEET SHAWL: Honeysweet is an asymmet-

rical lace shawl with a self edging along one side of the shawl. The last row and bind off create a scalloped edge that mirrors the edging on the opposite side. This is a fun knit that will also give you lots of practice in reading charts

and working with lace-weight yarn. It can go with casual or dressy outfits. Dates/Time: Thursdays, August 2, 16 & 30, 6:30-8:30 pm. Fee: $35 + Supplies. Instructor: Lynn Haffner.

ADVANCED LEVEL

TOE UP SOCKS TWO AT A TIME: Now that you know how to make socks the “conventional” way, learn how to use the Magic Loop method to produce them two at a time from the toe up. With some math, you will calcucate where to start knitting the gusset and turn the heel flap. We will be making baby socks in class which can be donat-ed to the Operation Breakthrough nursery if you would like. Homework: Please knit gauge swatch in selected yarn prior to first class. ADVANCED BEGINNER LEVEL

NEEDLEPOINT BAG TAG: Tired of trying to find your luggage in the baggage carousel? This tag will make any bag stand out anywhere. Other ideas include tags for your craft bag, beach bag or handbag. Learn to design a person-alized tag using the basketweave stitch. Date/Time: Thurs-day, August 18, 5:30-7 pm. FEE: $20 + Supplies. Instructor: Judy Smith.

HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS NEEDLEPOINT CLUB: Needlepoint clubs are a great way to re-ceive a project in the mail on a regular basis - and it’s just for you! You will learn new stitches and work with a variety of threads and embellishments - what a won-derful surprise each month! All canvases, featuring a different Santa Claus ornament are Cindy Craig originals and are hand-painted by our fabulous store artist, Susan. Each kit comes with comprehensive stitch guides and charts written by Cindy. All threads are included with each canvas. DATES/TIMES: You will receive each kit around the 15th of the month following your registration. The support class will be on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of the month (be sure to check the calendar at the Studio) First kit will be mailed by June 15, the support classes are Sunday, July 24 and Au-gust 21, 1-3 pm. This club runs from June-October. You can join at any time. FEE: The Club cost is $375 ($75 for each Santa kit (does not include finishing) and it includes a Exclusive Pro-ject Bag for those who make a one time payment. Support classes are $10 for club members. If you prefer to pay by the month, we will take a deposit equal to the cost of the last kit in the club. You will be charged for the first kit and any subsequent kits (except the last one) when they are mailed to you. Payment Terms: Once we receive your club regis-tration and deposit, we will secure your payment information for future kits. A credit card number is required for all clubs. Your fiscal safety is important to us; credit card information is securely stored.

NEEDLEPOINT TRUNK SHOWS You can always find the newest and greatest hand-painted needlepoint canvases at the Studio. New shows are arriving each month.

July’s Trunk Show is Julie Marr & Friends. From flo-rals to fat birdies, gingerbread houses to Judaica and accessories to animals, this trunk show has something for everyone, including small projects for summer trav-els. August’s Trunk Show is Patti Mann. Babies, belts, Christmas decorations, seasonal stuff and some truly unique 3-dimensional Pudgies. This trunk show will surprise and de-light. It is hot in KC and there is cool stuff at the Studio.

SIZZLING SUMMER CHILLS & THRILLS: COME READ WITH US

Knitter and mystery lover Joan Daniels invites Studio custom-ers to join her in reading and meeting some our favorite local mystery writers, who also happen to be Studio customers.

First up on July 17 featuring A Finely Knit Murder by Sally Goldenbaum. Once again those crafty (in more than one way) Seaside Knitters Group unravel the clues to solve a mysteri-ous murder in the small summer vacation town of Seaside be-fore another happens. Sally Goldenbaum will be on hand to sign copies and talk with participants.

August 14 will feature Linda Rodriquez’ new book, Every Broken Trust. Skeet Bannion, chief of campus police (and a knitter!) has her hands full trying to solve a murder in the col-lege’s storage cave possibly linked to an earlier death of her best friend’s husband. Linda will also be on hand to sign books and talk about the life of a mystery series writer. ooBooks can be found at libraries, bookstores and online. DATES/TIMES: Sundays, July 17 & August 14, 1:30-3 pm. FEE: Free

FIBER FUN @ THE STUDIO: FOR FREE!!!

Yes the dog days of summer in the Midwest are already upon us even though we are barely past June. But why sit alone at home with your projects when you can come chill for FREE at the Studiio —Join the Tuesday morning Sit & Stitch which opens at 8:30 am and goes until the last person leaves. Participant share tips and techniques and usually snacks that some-one has brought. Often Studio Staff try out new ideas with this group. —Fans of needlepoint have their own special time at Needlepoint Niche, Wednesdays from 1-3 pm. Share ideas and projects as well as snacks (do we see a theme emerging here?) —Create for a cause along with the Studio’s Charity Pro-ject group. Led by Nancy McDonnell, this group knits and crochets a wide variety of things for organizations such as KC Hospice, Bridget’s Cradle, Operation Breakthrough, Cancer Action, Hope Lodge and the VA Hospital. Free patterns and yarns are available. The Charity Project group meets the first Sunday of each month from 1-2:30 pm.
