Following are typical specifications to meet the above code requirements:

Design Criteria: Ground Snow Load = 0 - 90 (psf)

Basic Wind Speed = 105 - 180 (mph)

Installation Orientation: Landscape - PV Panel long dimension is parallel to ridge/eave line of roof and the PV

panel is mounted on the long side.

Portrait - PV Panel short dimension is parallel to ridge/eave line of roof and the PV panel

is mounted on the short side.

RL Universal System Spacing Tables assume maximum panel dimensions are: 67”x40”

Irregular Array Geometry:

Irregular Array Geometries such as those with staggered rows may require additional mounts to support the irregular

module cantilevers. To reduce the amount of roof penetrations for such array geometries, SnapNrack’s RL Universal

Link is permitted for use only when adhering to all the following guidelines:

1) When linking panels in the same row, a RL Universal Link(s) shall occur within 1” - 6” from the nearest adjacent

Module Panel Edge.

2) Roof Attachment spacing’s (RL Universal System Spacing Tables) shall not be exceeded with the use of RL

Universal Link(s).

3) In any case, Maximum of (2) roof attachments per Module may be replaced with the utilization of RL Universal

Link(s).

See Sheet SNR-DC-00368 for further detail.

Attachment to Roof:

The attached spacing tables include consideration of the attachment device capacity, based on UL 2703 load testing

performed by SnapNrack. Tested load values are developed with 5/16” Ø lag screws with an effective embedment of 2-

1/2” into a Douglas Fir substrate, with a reference withdrawal (uplift or pullout) load capacity of 532 lb, and a reference

shear (side or lateral) load capacity of 270 lb for resisting short-term wind or seismic loads. Reference values are the

base values, before any adjustment is made per the NDS. Installations into alternate substrates or which use alternate

fasteners shall be permitted; provided that the fastener has tested or code-derived allowable load capacities, and meets

one of the following two criteria: A) The allowable load values for the alternate fastener shall meet or exceed the

allowable values noted above for the 5/16” Ø lag screws in Douglas Fir; or B) the mount spacing identified in the

“spacing tables” shall be reduced according to the more restrictive of the following two formulas:

Components and Cladding Roof Zones:

The Edge Zones of the roof shall be determined based on the building’s least horizontal dimension (LHD). The Edge Zone,

“a”, is equal to 10% of the LHD (a = 0.1 * LHD) where “a” shall not be taken as less than 3 feet. For this packet, we

assume building LHD less than 60 feet. For greater values, further analysis is required to determine proper Edge Zones.

See Detail 1.0.

Panel with Support Mounts in Multiple Roof Zones:

Edge and Corner Zone spacings (Zone 2 & 3, respectively) apply only to mounts located in those Zones, not to all the

mounts supporting the module.

These tables are intended to be used under the responsible charge of a registered design professional where required by

the authority having jurisdiction. In all cases, these tables should be used under the direction of a design professional

with sufficient structural engineering knowledge and experience to be able to:

• Evaluate whether these tables are applicable to the project, and

• Understand and determine the appropriate values for all input parameters of these tables.

This letter certifies that the SnapNrack RL Universal Rail-less System, when installed according to the limitations of this

letter and the attached spacing tables, is in compliance with the above codes and loading criteria. This certification

excludes evaluation of the building structure to support the loads imposed on the building by the array; including, but

not limited to: strength and deflection of structural framing members, fastening and/or strength of roofing materials,

and/or the effects of snow accumulation on the roof. This requires additional knowledge of the building and is outside

the scope of the certification of this racking system.

Appendix A: Snow Load Conversion This appendix is applicable for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) with minimum roof snow loads OR non-reducible

ground snow loads for roof pitches under 45 degrees and roof pitches between 45 and 90 degrees.

Mount spacing tables were compiled utilizing ground snow loads, which are reduced to flat roof snow loads for pitches

under 45 degrees, and to sloped roof snow loads for roof pitches between 45 and 90 degrees. For AHJ’s specifying

minimum roof snow loads or non-reducible ground snow loads, the user shall convert the specified snow load to the

equivalent ground snow load in the Snow Load Conversion Table below to utilize the SnapNrack RL Universal Mount

Spacing Table(s).
