“ You fool, this night your life will be demanded of
you” (Luke 12:20). Hardly sounds like mercy!
Unlike some contemporary rich folks, there is no
indication of lying, stealing, or cheating in Jesus’ par-
able. The rich man made a living, not a killing. Why
does Jesus name him “fool”? First, because of pre-
sumption. Five times in nine verses, the rich man de-
clares, “I shall.” God’s not in charge here, I am! Sec-
ond, selfishness—four times, “my/myself.” No God, no
neighbor; he talks to himself, about himself: my posses-
sions, my productivity, my plans! So, instead of chas-
ing “treasure for ourselves,” Jesus and Pope Francis’
Jubilee Year of Mercy bid us grow “rich in what mat-
ters to God” (12:21), namely, the corporal and spiritual
works of mercy. Give food, drink, clothing, and heal-
ing; visit the imprisoned; bury the dead. Heal with Je-
sus’ own gentleness the doubt, ignorance, and sins of
others; comfort, forgive, be patient; and pray for the
living and dead.
- Peter Scagnelli
“ ‘¡Insensato!’ Esta misma noche vas a mo-
rir” (Lucas 12:20).
rales y espirituales.
- Peter Scagnelli
“To believe in Jesus is to accept “To believe in Jesus is to accept “To believe in Jesus is to accept what he says, even when it runs con-what he says, even when it runs con-what he says, even when it runs con-

W here do you place your trust? God, money, things, a certain political party or philosophy of life, or Church, yourself?
Jesus' parable makes clear that trusting in anyone or anything other than God will leave us empty and alone. We can trust people, business partners etc. but putting all our trust in things other than God can lead to an empty life. Baptism doesn't promise a life without tears or suffering. It promises that because we belong to Christ we are not alone and can find hope in every situation, even pending death. So trust in God and in those who lead you to God. Invest your time, money, and energy there and you will be truly rich, whatever today brings. We are nearly finished with World Youth Day, and it has been a wonderful experience so far. Thank you to all who helped us make this happen. We will see you all soon.
Have a blessed week, Sr. Karen Collier

Joining the Seminary by Seminarian Ramon
An invitation to all men to drive deeper into their hearts and
to pray if God is calling them to discern the priesthood. If you have
thought or even felt that God is calling you to the seminary, please
keep opening your heart to hear God’s voice. You most likely have a
lot of questions about the priesthood and the process to enter the
seminary. First get closer to God, that means daily mass and confes-
sion, this will help you to hear and receive God’s grace in the path to
sainthood.
Talking to your parish priest about the call to priesthood and
share your faith journey. A faith journey or faith story explains how
you see God’s hand in your life and the faith journey of the ups and
downs. To officially discern with the diocese, contact the vocation
director and set up a meeting with him. The director needs to get to
know you and through your faith story he will explain to you the gift
of hear God in your life. Then the director, would look for a spiritual
director and a discerning group that would guide you in your path.
Once you have discerned and made the choice to enter the
seminary, the paper work and exam will come. Joining a seminary has
a two step process, first the diocese that you belong needs to approve
you to apply to the seminary. Then you will submit an application to
the seminary with the approval of your bishop. The process of the
approval of the diocese starts with six interviews of different officials
of the church, submitting your biography, doctor checkups with a full
psychological exam, transcript of a bachelor’s degree, recommenda-
tion letters and then a board of six people will approve or deny you. If
approved, then all the candidates will have a dinner with the bishop,
an opportunity for him to get to know you personally.
Finally, the seminary admission reviews your application
and sets up an interview date, where you will be interviewed by three
boards with 4 members in each. After the interviews you will receive
a call or a letter letting you know the final decision.
Thank you St. Agatha for your support in my journey to the
priesthood. Your warm humble heart as showed me the face of Christ
and I will treasure it forever. Home will al-
ways be home to me, even if years pass, I will
forever love this community.
Your brother servant in Christ,
Ramon Jesus Reyes Seminarian at St. John Seminary in Camarillo,

"NOBODY CAN DO
EVERYTHING BUT
EVERYBODY CAN DO
SOMETHING."
On Saturday August 6 anyone who
attends the Sunday 8:30am or 10am
mass if you could please consider
assisting Yvonne Shoulders with the
donation of 200 meat and cheese
sandwiches for our Saturday Meal
Program. It would greatly be appre-
ciated. Yvonne generally donates
and makes the entire 200 sand-
wiches whenever the 8:30am and
10AM mass are scheduled. If you
are able to donate any of the amount
of sandwiches needed please call the
PC Office 323 935 8127. The sand-
wiches will need to please be
brought to the PC Kitchen area by
2pm on Saturday August 6. The PC
office is closed for lunch 12N-1PM.
Thank you Geraldine Moran for the
donation of the entire meal of chili
hot dogs and Geraldine popular
famous homemade potato salad and
the special added touch of cheese
and hand chopped onions. Such a
smiling. finger licking and happy
satisfied faces you couldn't help but
say praise God and thank you Jesus
for making this possible. This may
not seem like much but when you
have little or nothing and good solid
hot food is rare and so very far in
between this is like chicken and
dumplings, steak and potatoes, put
your feet under the table and sway
rockin kinda eating. Geraldine is a
member of the band of wingless
angel blessing sent by God to bless
our out reach for our weekly
guests. Geraldine does her God
work quietly and often not just for
the S.H.A.R.E. ministry BUT IN
EVERY AREA OF NEED IN THE
CHURCH. Our wingless angels you
walk beside them each day and es-
pecially on Sundays because they do
their works, actions and kindness in
silence you probably do not recog-
nize them. This is God's plan in how
they do His work. No fanfare just
soul food and spiritual up lifting for
touching lives in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
August 6 we will distribute back to
school supplies and clothing for our
children guests. The children's and
teen's clothing and sneakers that
you have been saving can please be
brought to the PC Patio August 6
from 9am-12 noon. We plan to dis-
tribute the clothing on the same
day. Please do not drop off any
other day as we have no storage.
We have teens with shoe size 9-11
for the girls and boys 7-12. A few of
the high school children could use a
in working condition (for the school
year) lap top computer or ipad. If
you have either of these and are
considering donating please call the
PC Office 323 935 8127. Thank
you.
We thank God for the sacrifices that
you have made to sustain St.
Agatha's effort to reach out and
made a difference in someone's life.
It's not always easy to do this as it
seems like the needs are always
present. You know little things
mean so much for our guests just the
mere thought that someone cares
each week makes such a difference
in the many of the guests. They
know somebody thinks about them
are concern, feed and pray with
and for them every Saturday in the
St. Agatha parking lot. God is good
all the time all the time God is
good. He uses you as the instrument
to provide, love and hope to our
guests. Amen
This week during your journey may
you feel the presence of God beside
you when you see that person who
looks down and out approaching
you and you want to avoid eye con-
tact or cross the street may the God
in you give you comfort as you
make the eye contact and smile
acknowledging that they like you
are a child of God. Amen.
Continue to be blessed and be a
blessing as you storm heavens gates
with prayers for unity and peace
everywhere on this earth.
