MOONLIGHT’S 28TH SUMMER SEASON: “A SEASON LIKE NO OTHER…..”
Welcome to our 2008 Moonlight season! With three spectacular Broadway musicals, we ring in the summer with dynamic musical theatre performances in our distinctively beautiful outdoor amphitheatre! This landmark season is one in which we celebrate the growth and development of this Regional Musical Theatre organization with the special opportunity to produce “Les Misérables”; the first of Southern California musical theatre producers to be granted the rights to do so.
Our theatre salutes our audiences and patrons for the nurturing of our Moonlight Cultural Arts Program; especially the Moonlight Amphitheatre where our history began 28 years ago. At the close of this season, a new era of Moonlight’s history begins in which the City of Vista will tear down the old foundation and re-open a new stage house in July 2009. What an extraordinary gift to our community that will be!
We owe a debt of thanks to the volunteer board members of the Moonlight Cultural Foundation and the volunteers of the Moonlight Angels’ Auxiliary. Through the Foundation, generous Corporate Sponsors and Patrons contribute to support the marketing, the actors, musicians and technical needs of the theatre, making a profound impact on the sustaining of Moonlight’s programs.
Enjoy this moon-lit evening of magical musical theatre!

SHOW SYNOPSIS
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s smash hit musical tells the Biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors, bringing it to vibrant life by illuminating the humor and contemporary relevance of this parable. Joseph is one of Jacob’s twelve sons; he is blessed with prophetic dreams and his father’s favor. When his brothers sell him into slavery and send him to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. The Narrator begins the show by opening a storybook and telling the story of “Joseph” to 16 onstage children, who join the cast in relating the tale to the audience.

RENdERINg OF MOONLIgHT AMPHITHEATRE’S NEW STAgE HOUSE
In our 28th year of producing Broadway-style musicals, we are thrilled to share the decades-long dream that will soon become a reality—this summer season marks the last produced on the Moonlight’s current temporary stage, as the City of Vista’s Moonlight Stage House Project is set to start construction at the end of this season.
The new stage house will feature a fly loft with electronic rigging for scenery and curtains, a lighting and audio canopy over the front portion of the stage, an orchestra pit, a rehearsal room and other backstage support facilities. Various site and accessibility improvements will also be made around and within the Amphitheatre. When completed in time to open the 2009 Summer Season, the new Stage House and related improvements will not only enhance the overall experience of Moonlight Stage Productions’ audiences, but will also provide opportunities for increased programming, rentals, and usage of the Amphitheatre throughout the year. Exciting potential usage of the Moonlight will include expanded programming for children and family-themed events, concerts, touring productions, art shows, exhibitions, festivals and community fund-raising events.
The Moonlight staff would love to know what kinds of cultural arts programming you would be interested in seeing in the Amphitheatre. Visit Moonlight’s website at: www.moonlightstage.com to voice your opinion on future programming that will be additional to the Summer Season of Musicals: take the poll!
Moonlight Cultural Foundation Capital Campaign The new Moonlight Amphitheatre Stage House would be incomplete without state of the art sound and lighting equipment. The Moonlight Cultural Foundation is proud to work with the community on a capital campaign to raise $675,000 to pay for new
equipment. To be a part of this exciting project contact: Diana Slaughter Aaron at (760) 630-7650 or [email protected].
