Welcome & Announcements Jane Bogue, Liturgist (All are invited to sign in the Friendship Register)

Let us prepare our hearts and minds to worship God

Chimes

Call to Worship One: The world of our Creator, who is our God, is visible for all to see, if we look. The

Christ has given us an example of all that can be, if our actions are apparent and deliberate. The Holy Spirit is moving us forward, if we will follow.

All: Let us respond with praise. Let us respond with obedience. Let us respond with joy. Let us worship in spirit and in truth.

One: Let us now give thanks to the Lord, let us call on His name; let us make known among all nations what Christ has done.

All: God remembers his covenant forever; the word he commanded, for a thousand generations.

One: We glory in God’s holy name; let our hearts seek the Lord in rejoicing and with thanksgiving,

All: that we might keep the precepts and wisdom of God in all that we do. Praise the Lord.

*Opening Hymn № 145 “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart!”

Call to Confession One: Today we lay aside our fears of facing the pain from past friendships, romances,

lovers, relationships and choices that hurt us. We renounce the spirits of pride, bitterness, lying, self-exaltation, rebellion, and greed.

All: We choose to walk away from these toward Christ, the Light of the World. When we are torn to look back by these old things, let us choose to respond in godliness, righteousness, grace, and love.

One: O God, lover of our souls, we thank you for removing any mental strongholds and for helping us to think and see clearly.

All: May the Holy Spirit guide us as we are bathed in the warmth of spiritual, mental, and even physical healing.

Prayer of Confession One: We recognize our sin that we see. We acknowledge the mistakes that we know

we have committed. We accept that we are weak. All: By your stripes, Christ, we can be healed. By our confession we bow before

divinity and seek forgiveness. Only in your love, mercy, and grace can we be justified before our God. Reform each of us, by the Holy Spirit, into the children of blessing that you have called us. Thus we can live out your forgiveness. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness One: Walking in the peace of God we become closer to Christ. Living in such peace we

learn to be still before the Lord of Lords. In God’s peace we grow to understand a mature and lasting knowledge of forgiveness in Christ.

All: Rejoice and again we say let us rejoice, for we are indeed forgiven.

The Peace One: May the Peace of Christ be with you. All: And also with you.

Let us pass the Peace to one another.

*Congregational Response № 579 “Glory Be to the Father”

*Statement of Faith (in unison) Apostles’ Creed (Traditional) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. AMEN.

Prayers of the People

Silent Prayer Time

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

The Word

Prayer of Illumination

One: Lord Jesus, we claim your promise in Psalm 91:14-15, in that we have set our love upon you. O God, you will deliver us. In Christ we will sit on high, spiritual places because we know your name.

All: We will call upon you, and you will answer us. You will teach us to be free and you will be with us in all times of trouble. Christ, who is Jesus, you will shine upon us, you will deliver us and give us honor, for you alone can illuminate us with your love.

One: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God.

Responding with Thanks

Call for Offering One: We have sought freedom and our God has not been found lacking in any way.

Let us rejoice in our freedom and our abundance by pouring out an offering of love. Let us give without restraint to the cause of our God who has give all we need. May we be humbled by the love that has enveloped us and seek to extend that love to others in our tithing.

All: Let us give from the grace and mercy that we have received. Amen.
