A Stewardship Prayer for July

Gracious God, You sent Your Son to proclaim the Good News, inspire us in faith and

show us the way to be good stewards of Your mercy.

In this month of July, dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, grant us the

wisdom to recognize that through His gift of the Eucharist there is but one cup of

covenant and communion.

Give us the courage to magnify Your presence in word and deed.

And through Your Spirit teach us to live, no longer for ourselves, but in Christ Jesus

who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

Upcoming Events

Exercise Notes

Zumba! Gold classes will take a break in July, August and

September and will resume in October. Beginning July 6, a

Beginner Tai Chi class will be offered on Wednesdays in

Visitation Hall at 1 p.m. Tai Chi is a gentle, slow-moving

martial art that provides numerous health benefits. This

three month class will focus on basic principals and a set of

easy to learn movements. The class won’t meet July 13, but

will meet weekly after that date. Call Lynn at 706-315-7748

11 or Wed., July 13.

Retreat Focused on St. Paul

Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat in Ft. Mitchell, AL is offering its

Annual Bible Institute entitled St. Paul: Transformation in

Jesus Christ July 8-10. The retreat fee, with accommodations

and meals, is $180. The retreat will begin with registration

on Fri., July 8 at 7 p.m. and conclude with dinner at Noon on

Ultreya

The next Ultreya for the Columbus, Ft. Benning and Phenix

City Cursillo Community will be Sun., July 10 in the parish hall

of St. Joseph’s Church in Ft. Mitchell, AL at 2 p.m. For more

New Parishioner Welcome Reception

There will be a New Parishioner Welcome Reception on Sat.,

July 16 in Visitation Hall after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. If you have

joined our parish in the last six months, we invite you to

Contemporary Couples’ Club Summer Fiesta

The Contemporary Couples’ Club’s next social is Sat., July 16

at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus home of Heather & John

Dalelio, 8452 Blackmon Rd. Enjoy a fajita bar and fellowship

with friends! Bring your own beverages. Cost to attend is $25

per couple, and your check is your reservation. Please mail

checks to: Brian & Jennifer Sillitto, 142 Waterfall Way,

Cataula, GA 31804. The RSVP deadline is July 10. The

mission of the Contemporary Couples’ Club is to promote

fellowship in the Columbus deanery by presenting social

programs for engaged and married Catholic couples and

couples interested in exploring the Catholic Faith. Couples in

their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s are invited to participate.

Baptism Class

Parents wishing to have their children baptized at our parish

must attend a Baptism Class. Our next Baptism Class is Sun.,

Aug, 28 in the Youth Room at 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration

Trivia Night

Save the date! St. Anne’s next Trivia Night will be Thurs., Aug.

25 at 7 p.m. in Visitation Hall for all parishioners age 18 and

over.

Spotlight on Stewardship July 3, 2016 Stewardship Reflection

“He said to them, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the

laborers are few…’” (Luke 10:2)

As Catholics we are all called to serve in ministry.

However, many of us are unsure how to use our

talents and gifts to build God’s Church. Talk to God

and ask Him what He wants you to do. The next time

one of your fellow parishioners asks you to help or

join a committee, it may be the answer to your prayer.

Ministry Spotlight Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick and Homebound

Many people are unable to attend Mass on a regular

basis due to illness or being homebound. At St. Anne

Church, we have Eucharistic Ministers who volunteer

to bring Communion to the sick and homebound.

These ministers fulfill an important need for our

parish by taking Communion and the Word of God

weekly or monthly to those who are recovering from

illness, who are homebound due to disability, or to

permanent residents in area nursing homes. All

parishioners over 18, who are in sacramental union

with the Church and who have been a member of the

parish for at least one year, are welcome to volunteer

for this ministry; however, special training is required.

St. Anne Community Outreach News The Outreach Item of the Month for July is Deodorant.

Outreach will be closed the week of July 4 and will

re-open July 11. Please don’t drop off donations

during this time.

Columbus Hospice Volunteers Needed

Columbus Hospice was established in 1979 to provide

loving, compassionate care to persons of all ages who have a

life-limiting illness and their families. Patients are cared for at

home or in a home-like setting, with services provided by a

skilled team of professionals. This team includes trained

volunteers. Volunteers assist by providing companionship

and numerous other activities.

If you are interested in becoming a Columbus Hospice

competing in The Kenneth E. Behring

National History Day Contest in College

Park, MD. Chloe says the experience

was life-changing! "My National History

Day project was a documentary about

my great, great uncle Ben Skardon’s

experience on the Bataan Death March during World War II.

I was blessed enough to be able to go to the National

History Day Contest. Every moment was an incredible one,

and I will cherish that time in my life forever. The other

contestants I met were so genuine and kind. I was so

thankful to have Mrs. Queener, my Social Studies teacher,

there supporting me every second of the way. She was

such an encouragement, and though I did not place in the

overall category for Documentary, I was able to share my

uncle's story with many. In my interview, the judges asked

what they should take away from my project. As I tried

gathering myself, I could not help but cry. I simply said, 'I

want you to remember.' I think it is important for us to

remember those who fought for us, those who gave their

lives for us and those who continue to fight the ongoing

battle for our freedom."
