FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Imagine you are watching the action of a roulette table in Las Vegas. Suddenly you have a vision. The numbers 12, 01 and 33 keep rolling in your mind, over and over. You ponder what this means and then it’s clear. The first two are the time, 12:01 p.m., and 33 is on the roulette wheel. At exactly one minute past noon, black 33 is going to hit. You can risk a small bet of $5.00 and win $175 or you can go to the ATM and draw out all your savings and put it on 33 black. This Sunday’s gospel is about someone who finds a huge treasure buried in a field. He goes off and sells everything to buy the field. The point of the story is not about risking everything on a game of chance (or about gambling). With God, the odds are always in favor of winning. Those who place all their hope in God win every time. Trust God and you will receive endless treasure. …Eccl. 3:11

THANK YOU DEPT.

Dear Parishioners, Two beautiful evenings of low humidity and just-right temperatures made our Mid-Summer Festival a huge success this year. I would particularly like to thank our Festival Committee, Rik Jochems, George Zwiebel, Sandy Frinzi, Noel Glunz, Kathy Vicic, Judy Meseravage, Joe Burns, Michelle Ambrose and Missy Scheetz for all their hard work and time in coordinating everything for the Festival as well as making sure everything was set up and ready to go for the Festival and cleaned up afterwards. I’d also like to thank all those who helped with our food preparation, as well as our parish staff. Also, a special thank you to those who helped set-up, clean-up, worked the stands or dedicated their time and talent in any way. Your efforts are also much appreciated in allowing things to run so smoothly. A heartfelt thanks to all who sponsored the Festival, donated prizes or baked. Finally, a special thanks to all who gave their support to the Festival by being there Friday and/or Saturday evening. The patronage of this event makes all the time and effort put into the Festival very worthwhile. There are still some bills to be paid, so the final results from the Festival will be in the bulletin within a few weeks. Once again, thanks to all for making this parish event so successful. Yours in Christ, Father Dave

These medications are lifesavers, but they can increase the risk of serious falls, as was confirmed by a study recently in JAMA Internal Medicine, which looked at nearly 5,000 people over age 70 with hypertension. The greatest risk of falling is during the first month or two after starting a new hypertension drug. =====================================
