From the Pastor

Every day we make choices. Sometimes without even realizing we are making decisions. You made a choice to read this

article. Now you are making a choice to continue reading! Many of the choices we make are life altering. Who will you

marry? What job will I take? There are so many choices.

For the next few weeks, I would like to propose 10 choices that could have an impact on your life or the life of someone you

encounter that same week. My hope is that we each recognize the choice, consider our decision, and possibly challenge

another person with the same choice. Ready?

Choice #1: I Choose God’s Love

At the center of this identity question is the issue of God Himself. If there is a God, if He made the universe and me, if He knows me and

loves me and forgives me…well, that changes everything. But you have to choose that for yourself. Deep in the heart of every person is a

longing for the God who made him.

When someone tells you he believes in God, ask him to clarify which God he believes in. Some people are going around these days inventing

their own god according to their damaged moral compass. Others, grudgingly admitting there must be a god, turn to a caricature of God

they have picked up along the way. These gods are about as divinely ineffective as no God at all! Ephesians 4:6 reminds us there is “one God

and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal

life.” We must choose to believe with our whole heart not just that God loves, but that He truly loves me, as I am, with full knowledge of my

shortcomings. I choose to believe God loves me. What’s your choice?
