MyKidneyStoneS dileMMaIn my last newsletter I mentioned in my Praise section that the Lord healed
me from kidney stones. Well, I spoke too soon. Heres the story:
In the wee hours of March 15 beginning at 2:15 a.m., I woke up with sudden
sharp pains on the left side of my lower abdomen. I wiggled and wormed in bed for
a few minutes praying for the pain to stop. Then I got nauseous. I called my doctor
daddy, of course, and complained to him about this unusual pain. He urged me to go
to the ER. After going back and forth, I obeyed and asked my wonderful roommate
to take me to CareNow, which is sort of like an ER but not. Well, that place wasclosed, so we ended up in the ER waiting room.
Four hours, lots of pain and a CAT scan later, the doctor told me I had two small
kidney stones. One was making its way down my tubes while the other was waiting
patiently in my kidney.
I was totally clueless about what was causing the pain. The one constant thought
in my head was, What in the world is going on?!
Well, Ive been told that passing kidney stones is much worse than childbirth.
And Ive also been told by experts in this area, whove suffered with severe bouts
of kidney stones, that mine must have been minor because sometimes the pain can
get so severe you end up with a morphine drip in your arm. And I thought my pain
was horribleI passed one stone. But the other one is apparently still hanging out with my
right kidney. I thought and believed the Lord for its vanishing, but an X-ray showed
otherwise. Good thing is that I havent had any pain whatsoever since that day at
the hospital, and Im making an effort to drink more water (which was probably the
cause of my kidney stones: Lack of water and too much calcium intake).
Im going to continue to believe the Lord for healing in this area. You can pray
with me on this one. ;)

June 9 marked my one-year anniversary serving at Gospel for Asia. Wow,did it go fast! There were highs and lows and more highs. Along with lots of
growing, learning, stretching and humbling experiences. There were even
some realizationsand facing up to those realizationsin just one year.
I cant imagine being anywhere else but here. And I love it! I wonder what

Bearing Their Scorn
Dulari stood rm in the Lord through prayer after herfamily turned on her for following Christ.
Dulari had no illness. She wasnt demon possessed. She witnessed no mira-
cle or deliverance. So what caused her to give up practicing other religions and
turn to the one true God
Dulari was born and brought up in the Muslim faith and performed all herreligious duties without fail. But when she married a man from a different reli-
gion, she began following after his gods and goddesses. As often as she went to
the temples to offer sacrices to the idols, she still had no peace in her life.
When Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries Sampat Sengupta and Yu-
dhisthir Banerjee came to visit and share the Gospel message with her, she
listened carefully to everything they said. By the time the missionaries were
nished, Dulari wanted to know more about this God who gave up His Son to
die for her sins. Sampat and Yudhisthir gave her some Gospel tracts to read
through and told her how she could choose to follow Jesus.
The missionaries came back to visit Dulari often and continued to teach
her more about Jesus. The more Dulari learned, the more she realized He was
her Savior, and she soon chose to follow Christ. But her family and neighbors
disapproved of her newfound faith.
Criticism and contempt became constant in her life. People mocked her. Her
in-laws abused her, and her husband threatened to leave her if she did not
deny Jesus Christ. Dularis entire life was turned upside down.
But she bore the pain and agony through prayer, and she stood rm in the
Lord. Dulari continued to attend worship services with the missionaries and
take part in the church activities.
Dulari asks for prayer for her family, that they will come to know the Lord
Jesus as their Savior and that her neighbors will experience the joy of salva-
tion in their lives.
Of all the ways God blessed the ministry of Gospel
for Asia in 2009, perhaps none had a greater impactthan the provision of Jesus Wells in needy villages and
desperate slim areas.
The dry season in South Asia can be brutally hot.
Clean drinking water is an absolute necessity for
survival, yet many poor tribal villages see their wells dry
up in the unrelenting heat.
Thankfully, over the past two years, GFA has been able
to drill more than 2,000 Jesus Wells across India and
neighboring countries. The results have been incredible.
After the horrendous 2008 attacks against Christians
in Orissa, India, at least 5,000 Christian homes weredestroyed and dozens of churches were ransacked or
burned out.
By late 2009, GFA teams had already rebuilt more
than 500 homes. Overcoming challenges that included
scarcity of materials in some areas, the joy seen in
the faces of those who moved in was well worth the
struggle to build them.
The goal for 2010 is to complete the remaining
homes, Dr. K.P. Yohannan said.
Ts s t L s dg; s mavlus in our eys. Here are a few snippets from some of the stories we featured in our 2009 Annual report. Let me know if
you didnt receive a copy of that publication, and Ill try and get one to you. Its amazing to see what the
Lord has done in a matter of one single year! Hes absolutely incredible and His glory cannot be contained!
