Minutes of the Second Quarter Meeting in 1989

Location: Caminarano Brothers Warehouse, Olympia, Washington

Date: Saturday, June 10, 1989.

President Bob Hauge called the meeting to order at 10:35 a.m.

Treasurer's Report: Jean MacNeil reported that the current bank balance was $1,776.15 as of 5/31/89, with some dues not deposited as yet. Bills to come in include those for regalia purchases and a special mailing. The newsletter will have a complete report.

Secretary's Report: The minutes of the last quarterly meeting were approved as printed, with the additional clarification on one matter as provided by President Hauge. (Moved, seconded, carried.)

Old Business: 1.The secretary read the letter received from John and Carolyn Donovan of the Morgan Sports Car Club. It will be included in the next newsletter, together with an individual membership form in case our members want to join MSCC and receive Miscellany also. The Newsletter Editor will begin sending our Nogazine to them immediately.

2. Mike Miles led a discussion about Regalia to be ordered. He displayed a new sweatshirt with zipper, which will be printed with our logo. The club will pay approximately $19 for each shirt. Mike will also order sun visors, to be printed with our logo, and long-sleeved tee shirts with a small logo and "MORGAN" printed down one sleeve. There ensued a discussion of prices we should charge, and wher prices should be different for members versus non-members. We decided that to keep book-keeping as simple as possible, a single price should be charged for each item. Sweatshirts will therefore be sold for $22, visors for about $5.00, and long-sleeved tee shirts for $12.00. Mike worked out the numbers of each item to be ordered, and it was M/S/C to approve his spending of $1,042.80 on these clothing items. We decided to limit our orders to clothing at this time, see how they go, and keep the possibility of ordering woven badges and lapel pins in mind for later in the year.

3. There was a question about the British Morgan Tour. Apparently one group of Morgans will tour the Eastern U.S. and a second group will visit the West, all meeting at Cambria for the British Field Meet in July of 1990. We decided that it would be fun to head for Cambria in 1990 also, and hope that the tour group will come through our area.

4. Bob Hauge reported a slight confusion: Bob Nelson had previously been appointed to be our correspondent to Miscellany, and therefore Dick Dice's appointment during the last quarterly meeting was out of order. D.D. gracefully resigned his commission. The question was raised as to whether this ought to be an elected post. We postponed discussion on this matter.

5.The secretary reported the results of the balloting for winter banquet location (as reported in the newsletter.) The Southern group will work the problem, as well as working on this year's Portland All-British Field Meet picnic and dinner.

New Business: 1. The Northern group will hold a party at the Wellington's after the First Seattle All-British Field Meet on July 22. Dave will send out notification to all members, and will charge a small fee for purchase of meat and a keg.

2. Mike Powley and his daughter arrived, after a long run down from Vancouver. He was full of plans for new tours. The Weiskinds also arrived.

3.Next year's calender of Club events won't be put together until January, but Mike has already started to work on plans for a tour up the Fraser River Canyon Highway for the 1990 Memorial Day weekend. He is also interested in putting together a tour of the Napa Valley wine country following the 1990 Cambria event, visiting as many wineries and restaurants as possible in a week of fun and gourmandizing.

4.Dave Wellington put in a plug for the July 14 - 15 Mount Rainier Caper, pointing out that it is a full moon weekend. Dave will send information to those who plan to go.

5.In the "Ego Knows Absolutely No Bounds" Department, Mike Powley presented pictures of awards presented to club members at the Van Dusen Gardens (Vancouver BC) Field Meet last May. Thea Wellington passed out lots of MOG-NW information at that Meet, and as a result we have several new Canadian members.

6.The meeting was adjourned at 11:35 a.m.

After a tour of his company warehouse, Dave Cammarano took over as tour leader to the Dunlap's pottery shop on Harstene Island, a picnic on their beach, and thence to the Alderbrook Inn on Hood Canal. A good time was had by all.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Dice, Secretary

few PLEASE REPLY TO THE ADDRESS SHOWN

30th May 1989

Hoplands House Green Tye Much Hadham

Dear Nancy, Herts.

Thanks for your letter addressed to Barry Ties dated 25th March 1989, which has now been passed on to us as the Affiliation Officers. Unfortunately due to problems arising from Barry's resignation as Secretary and his moving house, your application was not brought up at the NCM held in May. We have arranged though with the Registrar of MSCC that in any event copies of Miscellany will be sent to you as from June. Naturally we do not envisage any problems with regard to formal approval. of your application, which will come up at the next NCM to be held in October.

The address to send yournewsletters etc. is as above, Hoplands House. We will do our best to help should you need any information of events or contacts in other countries.

In the meantime we have enclosed a few membership forms for application to MScc.

Happy Morganeering.

Kind regards

kAL John and Carolyn Donovan

t6-89) MOG AID NETWORK OF NORTH ERICA--MANNA

Participation Solicitation

I solicit your participation, as a Morgan owner or enthusiast, in the NOG Aid Network of North America (MANNA).

MANNA is patterened directly on the Mogaid scheme run by the U.K. Morgan Sports Car Club. It will be a list of names and phone numbers, like yours, arranged by geographical area in the United States and Canada. Listing means you are willing to volunteer to give aid, information and support to other Morgan drivers who experience difficulty with their cars in your area.

The extent of your support to them is entirely up to you. At your discretion, it may range from providing a phone reference for a good local garage, mechanic or parts store, to supporting a complete rebuild in your front yard. You don't have to be mechanically adept to be listed. It's enough, for example, if you know a local mechanic or towing service. As you can see from the enclosed sample MANNA List format, you can identify the level of help you are willing to supply.

The MANNA List will be made available to the persons on the List, and through the several Morgan clubs in this country and Canada to their current members for use at no charge. It will not knowingly be made available to anyone for commercial solicitation of you.

The only compensation you receive for volunteering is the intangible reward of, perhaps, occasionally helping somebody else who has one of Peter Morgan's highly impractical machines, and maybe the eventual anecdotal value of a shared adventure.

MANNA is being launched under the auspices of the District of Columbia Morgan Club. It will initially bear the out-of-pocket costs for printing and postage. The idea is to try it for a year or so to see if it works and is worthwhile.

The present projected time frame is: Volunteers whose forms are received by August 30 will be included in the 1989-1990 MANNA List. The List will be printed and distributed by early Fall 1989. Between then and late Fall 1990, MANNA volunteers and Morganists who use the network will be encouraged to report and critique their experiences, good or bad. In Fall 1990 I will ask volunteers on the List for their assessment of its utility and, in consultation with MCCDC, determine whether it is worthwhile to perpetuate the scheme. If so, I will update and distribute the List. Thereafter, it will be culled, updated and distributed annually. Please respond now on the enclosed form.

Dear Fellow Morgan Owner:

Having owned the same 1958 Morgan for 26, I figured it's about time

to join a club. Since G.E. Sterne and son Bob went out of the servicing

business up here it's become increasing difficult to find mechanics with

the right know-how.

My car is in fair to medium condition but the wood is beginning to

go and I've got a bit of body rust. A Morgan owner at the recent

All British Field Meet in Vancouver told me he'd heard of someone in the

U.S. who supplies complete bodies, including wood, but excluding fenders,

for about $3,000 U.S.

If you can help, I'd very much like to know more about who and

where that supplier is.

Also, I have urgent need of at least one good, round 5.25 by 16 inch

tire. (One of nine is out-of-round) . Any ideas?

Any back issues of any newsletters would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Look forward to meeting you in due course.
