Students will learn the basic stages of illustration and study the Japanese style. Character Sheets: A follow-up to Character Design, this part of the process establishes emotions and expressions for the character creation, adding depth in personality. Inking: The next stage in anime/ manga technique after pencil sketches. Students learn the inking process from the polished stokes and finished lines involved in the technique. Toning: Used mainly in manga, this illustration technique was used to replace color to add variety, becoming an important process in sequential art. Colors (Copic): Copic markers are used to create colors for cover art and poster illustration, pertaining to manga and anime; a traditional use of color choice, as well as shading. Sequential Art: This form of art is used mainly for storytelling in manga and creating sequence in anime storyboards, establishing character development. Character Design: An introductory class in character design for anime/ manga art. Students will learn the basic stages of illustration and study the Japanese style.
