Relying on the spirit and story of the Gospels, First Christian Church is supported primarily by donations. There is no charge for any event. We rely on freely given offerings to support our various minis-tries and opportunities.

Your contributions and gifts allow us to continue to be a radically inclusive, justice-driven community of faith every day of the week. Thank you in advance for your gifts.

Hello friends,Last evening the Board voted to call the Rev. Eric Eide as a half-time Interim As-sociate Pastor beginning in August. His first Sunday with us will be August 4. Eric recently returned to Oregon following a five year pastorate in Virginia. This interim period of six months to a year will allow our congregation to con-sider future staffing patterns. Do we need one pastor, two pastors, or something in between? What will our finances allow? How can we best assure that our ministries continue and grow the kin-dom of God in Albany? The Executive Team in collabo-ration with other groups of the church will be planning a process so that everyone’s voice can be heard. This will be a time of prayerful reflection and listening to one another. Please be assured that Douglass Anne, Eric, and I will be meeting between now and the 4th to assure continuity of ministries. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak with the Executive Team (Corbin Tanager, MaryDale Salston, Douglass Anne, Tim Graves). In Service of the One,

P.S. Please plan now to be a part of our farewell party celebrating Douglass Anne’s ministry on Sunday, July 28 following 10:10 worship.

Yard Art Bicycles and Bible Reading HabitsThis is the picture of my overgrown bicycle that I shared with the children on Sunday. I neglected to point out then that the morning glories grow-ing around it were even blooming! Clearly my habit of cycling died a hard death when my bike got a flat tire that I couldn’t fix. What’s your “flat tire” when it comes to reading the Bible? Is it not enough time? Thinking that you need some kind of special training to understand it? We all make and break habits all the time, sometimes consciously and others unconsciously. Let’s all make a commitment to create a Bible read-ing habit this summer. Read no less

than 10 verses each day (that is usually enough to get the whole story). And I’ll even share my handy Bible app with you if you want it!

Be the Welcoming Face of FCC! Welcoming all people who come through the doors on Sunday mornings is an important mis-sion for First Christian Church. To be a greeter you don’t have to be a member of the church–just be willing to offer everyone a warm reception. As a greeter, you pass out Sunday bulletins, help with any questions regarding the church, the nursery and child care, etc. If you are interested in greeting on Sunday mornings to please contact Mary Frederick at [email protected]

She volunteers abroad every summer and this will be her fourth trip with FEDICE.Members of Murray Hills Christian Church are leading the trip and if anyone would like to contribute and help support Lauri on her trip, you can donate through their website for a small transaction fee at: https://bit.ly/2F5fYnS In the form under “Give to” choose “Other” and please note - “Lauri Mor-ris - Ecuador Trip” to make sure it is credited to her account.
