In todays gospel, Jesus is approached by a scholar of the law who asks him what he must do to inherit eter- nal life.Jesus asks the scholar what the law says. The scholar is able to quote from the Scripture but desires to go deeper. In Today’s Gospel I expect that most of us have some basic understanding of what it means to be a Catholic. You may not un-derstand the finer points of the hypostatic union or of concupiscence, but by growing up in a Christian cul-ture, some bits of the faith are bound to sink in. In today’s gospel, Jesus is approached by a scholar of the law who asks him what he must do “to inherit eter-nal life.” Jesus asks the scholar what the law says. The scholar is able to quote from the Scripture but desires to go deeper. Jesus then uses the parable of the Good Samaritan to help him understand that to fulfill God’s law requires a complete commitment to loving our brothers and sisters, not just those close to us, but every-one. Let us commit to not just loving our neighbors but to acting according to that love towards them.

HELP WANTED at St. Mary Faith Formation

Do you ever wonder what do these volunteer catechists

(teachers) get out of teaching your child? Do you wish you could

spend some quality time with your child in a way that is different

have pondered these questions, I ask you to prayerfully consider

offering yourself to our program .

Our wonderful and dedicated volunteers are at the heart

of our Religious Education Program. As we continue to grow Faith

Please consider joining a wonderful group of volunteers at St.

Mary Parish.

You will be given proper training and provided with all

the necessary materials. There are many areas in which to help.
