Geagte Lid / Dear Member: Hiermee word kennis gegee van „n spesiale vergadering wat gehou sal word om 10h00, 20 Augustus 2011, by die klub, in sake „n voorgestelde verandering van die stem klousule in die konstitusie. Die Algemene Jaarvergadering sal direk hierna plaasvind.

Notice is hereby given of a special meeting that will be

held @ 10h00 on the 20th August 2011, at the club,

concerning a proposed voting amendment in the

constitution. The Annual General Meeting will take place

directly afterwards.

Uit die Voorsitter se pen / Note from the chairman:

Baie geluk aan Martin Potgieter, die skipper van boot Daghaboy, wat saam met Charl en Etienne Carey en Leon Martin fantasties gedoen het tydens die onlangse Guinjata kompetisie in Mosambiek deur 2de te eindig! (Sien foto’s elders in Nuusbrief). Etienne het ook ‘n pragtige Streep Marlyn van +/- 120kg geland en ‘n “Yellow fin Tuna” van 50.7kg wat so amper-amper vir hulle ‘n boot besorg het…die wenners se “Yellow fin” was minder as 2kg swaarder as Etienne se prag vis. Hy het darem geëindig as hengelaar met die 2de meeste punte en die “Calcutta” huis toe gevat as troosprys! Charl het ‘n Skipjack van 11.8kg en ‘n Dorado van 16.8kg uitgetrek waarvoor hulle boot ook lekker pryse ontvang het. Verder wil ek ook vir Sean Busney gelukwens met sy Swart Marlyn van +/- 70kg wat hy met 10kg lynklas uitgehaal het tydens die “All Inlands” te Sodwana, wat dan ook aan hom die maand se “Hengelaar van die Maand” prys besorg het! Baie dankie aan Solly’s Anglers Corner ons trotste borg van die toekenning. Neem asb kennis van Solly’s se fantastiese 50% af aanbiedinge op verskeie Purglass, Shimano en Trinidad stokke/katrolle wat elders in die Nuusbrief geadverteer word…ondersteun hulle asseblief! Die afgelope “Tackle box” was baie goed besoek, dankie aan almal wat teenwoordig was asook ‘n spesiale woord van dank aan Paul Borcherds vir sy tyd en moeite en ook aan Angling & Outdoor World wat die aand moontlik gemaak het. Die volgende “Tackle box” sal Woensdag 20 Julie weer by die klubhuis plaasvind. Garth McGee gaan kom gesels oor sy onlangse toer na Mexico. Belangrike datums / Important dates:

National Women’s Day is an annual public holiday in

South Africa on August 9. This commemorates the

national march of women on this day in 1956 to petition

against legislation that required African persons to carry

the "pass".

On August 9, 1956, 20,000 women staged a march on

the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the

proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act

(commonly known as the pass laws) of 1950. They left

bundles of petitions containing more than 100 000

signatures at Prime Minister J.G. Strijdom's office doors.

Outside they stood silently for 30 minutes, many with

their children on their backs. Those who were working

for Whites as nannies were carrying their white charges

with them. The women sang a protest song that was

composed in honour of the occasion: Wathint'Abafazi

Wathint'imbokodo!(Now you have touched the women,

you have struck a rock.). In the 54 years since, the

phrase (or its latest incarnation: "you strike a woman,

you strike a rock") has come to represent women's

courage and strength in South Africa.

The march was led by Lilian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph,

Albertina Sisulu and Sophia Williams-De Bruyn.

Since August 9, 1994, the day has been commemorated

annually and is known as "Women's Day" in South

Africa. In 2006, a reenactment of the march was staged

for its 50th anniversary, with many of the 1956 march

veterans.

2011 MERCURY OET Bill- and Gamefish Tournament

Once again this prestigious tournament is proudly sponsored by Mercury Outboards. This tournament has grown

from strength to strength since its inception in the late seventies, hence the timeous invitation to you personally.

Our field has been limited to 75 boats, so it is vitally important to make use of this early reminder to register

straight away. Please follow the payment instructions carefully.

We will bring you updates via e-mail as to the progress of the competition, including details of all the prizes that

are up for grabs. It is therefore important to include your correct e-mail address. The tournament will be fished on

10Kg and 37Kg line (line class to be nominated daily) and we will once again have four categories, namely, Marlin,

Sailfish, Tag & Release Billfish and Gamefish. The SADSAA scoring system will apply. IGFA rules will be applicable.

Teams must consist of not less than two (2) persons and no more than legally permitted on a boat.

The most meritorious fish caught during the tournament will win a MALLARDS 630 Cobra Cat fitted with two 125hp

MERCURY OPTIMAX outboards on a TRAUTECH trailer. The winner will receive insurance cover for one year by

Vanguard Marine & Leisure.

Please note that entries are limited and only boats whose entrance fees are FULLY PAID will be considered. You are

Wildlife for the top gate at the camp site. Anglers are requested to obtain their own tags directly from ORI as MDSAA

won’t be supplying any tags. A limited number of tag sticks will be available for purchase.

Remember to purchase your fishing licence at a post office before you depart to Sodwana.

Skippers are reminded that with the launching of boats the skippers’ own vehicles are to be used the MDSAA tractors

won’t be available for launching. The tractors will be available in the afternoons as usual to assist with the pulling of

the boats.
