    WHAT SWORD TO CHOOSE

Half of the battles advantage goes to a good sword. If allowed, grab a long swordand a short sword. Hold the long sword in the hand you use better. Long swords are usuallypretty flimsy. Short ones are sturdier. As a defensive person or if you were tall, the bestalternative for you would be a short sword. A short, agile or aggressive person, would be bettersuited by a long sword. A quick person with good reflexes would also get a short sword. Theshort ones are mighty convenient for defense, because each strike is short and can be changedquickly. Long swords, instead, are handy for a fast attack. Their length allows you to performexpert jabs. Both swords at the same time would be lethal.

    WHEN AND HOW TO ATTACK

Always attack after your enemy does. When he/she least expects it, strike. Always

aim for the chest to avoid injury. If your sword is flimsy be extremely careful. If is bends even alittle bit in an attack, it can act like a whip and hurts a great deal. A jab is when you send astraight strike towards your enemy with the tip of your sword pointing forward. A blow is ahorizontal strike in which you move the edge of the blade from left to right (or right to left). A sliceis begun by holding your sword vertically above your head and bringing it down as if your wristsand hands were made out of stone. DO NOT move them until you have made contact with yourenemy or with anything else.

A good way of changing an attack begins with holding the sword in the gap between your indexfinger and thumb. Try to press these fingers together so the sword wont fall off. Spread yourother fingers out as though they were a pancake. While still holding the sword, let it fall towardyour open fingers and a bit to the front. Twist your wrist around until the sword is in upright

position once again. A good attack sequence is to send two slanted slices and very, veryquicklyturn around. While in the turn do the attack changing procedure and end with a blow. If you areusing two swords, attack lightly with the short sword and then surprise your rival with the longone.A good technique for attack is to make your wrist wobbly (but not too loose) so your attackis more fluent.

    TRICKS AND DODGES

The easiest trick is to send a horizontal blow. As soon as your blade makes contactwith your opponents, move your toy sword back a bit and send another blow to your opponents

stomach. An easy dodge is to make a sidestep. The only bad thing about the sidestep is that itonly works with jabs and slices. Another easy dodge is rolling under your enemys jabbing orblowing arm. This dodge cannot be used under your opponents slice or while your rival is stillbecause they might attack you. Another good trick is to make a slice, but before it touches theopposing sword, turn it into a blow. One of the hardest tricks is disarming. Lock your swords hiltwith your opponents and twist it around. DO NOT let go of your sword. This twisting will loosenyour enemys grip on the weapon. Throw your opponents sword out of their hand and you havepractically won.

    WHEN AND HOW TO DEFEND

Defense is one of the most important things in Foamy-Sword Fighting. To defend ajab, bring your sword down like a slice, only sideways. A slice can be defended by a horizontalmove above your head, not unlike a jab, only in front of you. Defending a blow is quite different.Perform a jab only downward to block a blow. The best move to use after these defenses is anattempt to disarm. The twisting and turning could confuse the opponent a little. Then, being ascareful as can be, whack your rivals sword. This might slightly stun him/her. After this, you arefree to attack again.

Where to Start a BattleAn open space would

be ideal for a battlebecause you have roomto run around and dodge.

If no such space isprovided, choose anarena full of obstacles.Having throw-appropriateobstacles (ones that donthurt) helps if you are in

trouble. These obstaclesmake a good hiding placeor a good defensesystem if you are in gravedanger. If you are astrategic, person a goodplace for you would be an

open space with a fewobstacles. A moredefensive person, instead, could do withlots of obstacles.Aggressive people wouldbe served with noobstacles at all. Good battle area.

    WHEN TO BACK OFF

    Backing off.

Backing off is adangerous procedure. First, youcould trip and fall. Second, youcould back into a wall and giveyour adversary a better chanceat beating you. Be sure not toback off while attacking, because your attack would beof no use. Every step, try tosteal the quickest glancepossible, without losingconcentration. Try to avoid

losing your balance or youwould fall and might get injured. After a blocked strike, yourconfidence might be raised soattack to stop backing off. Thisrecovering procedure is simple.Just block a strike, attack

however is easiest from yourposition and send many otherattacks fluently. This will makeyou go forward and your enemywill have to back off.Try to keepyour enemy backing off as

though ushering a mad doginto an exercise pen.
