Artist Biographies Deborah Song is a second-generation Korean American violinist based in New York. At the age of 12, she was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College Division, where she studied with Shirley Givens. She won top prizes at the Associated Music Teachers Association Competition, the European Division of the Queens College Competition, the Yonkers Philharmonic Competition and the New York Music Competition of Flushing, Queens. Deborah has performed with the Westchester Mentoring Orchestra, the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra and the Merrick Chamber Symphony Orchestra. One of her greatest passions is playing chamber music. In fact, it was her discovery of the late Beethoven string quartets as a teen that first drew her interest in pursuing music. At her graduation from the Eastman School of Music, she was awarded the John Celentano Award for Excellence in Chamber Music. She recently graduated with a Master of Music degree from Juilliard, where she studied with the late Stephen Clapp and Laurie Smukler. Born in Shanghai, China, XIONG Yin studied piano and later switched to cello. Studying at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and later, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she won prizes including the 4th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and the 4th and 5th National Cello Competitions. Principal cellist of the Pacific Music Festival from 2006 to 2009, she played under Valery Gergiev, Ricardo Muti, Christoph Eschenbach and Michael Tilson Thomas. She has attended Germanys Kronberg Academy and the Aspen Music Festivals prestigious Finckel-Wu Han Chamber Studio program. She has been a soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Xiamen Symphony Orchestra, CISMA Symphony Orchestra and the Academy Symphony Orchestra under Jnos Frst, Franois Xavier Roth, Alexander Shelley and Edo De Waart. She earned an Artist Diploma in cello performance from the Oberlin Conservatory and is currently in Juilliards accelerated BM/MM program, where she studies with Darrett Adkins and Joel Krosnick. Hailed by the New York Times as a pianist with "a graceful touch . . . rhythmic precision . . . hypnotic charm Han Chen is a distinctive artist whose credentials at a young age already include important prizes in competitions of traditional music as well as increasing respect in the avant-garde. Mr. Chen recorded his debut CD with Naxos Records, which consists of all-Liszt operatic transcriptions, as the first prize winner of the 6th China International Piano Competition. Britains International Piano magazine praised Mr. Chens performance in that competition, noting that [Chen] displayed extraordinary strength, talent and flair. As an enthusiastic advocate for modern music, Mr. Chen actively performs both 20th-century classics and works by emerging composers. His close collaboration with the Juilliard modern music ensemble AXIOM has led to the performance of music by composers Pierre Boulez and Steve Reich. He was also soloist in works by John Adams and John Cage. Mr. Chen graduated from Juilliard in May 2015, receiving his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Juilliards accelerated program, under the guidance of Professor Yoheved Kaplinsky.
