Dear Parents/Caregivers Last Thursday afternoon we attended the Public Education Awards at Lismore High Campus. It was such a pleasure to see Penny Sweeney and Sally McPherson receive recognition for their exemplary service to Public Education. Congratulations – we are very proud of you both! After the Award Ceremony Mrs Sweeney and I attended the Performing Arts Festival at the Lismore Worker’s Club where 5 of our students performed in the Small School’s Choir. We are very proud of these students and their commitment to extra curricula activities. Congratulations Lane, Oliviah, Lillianna and Frankie. We also look forward to participating in next year’s PAF again as a whole school. I am attending the Primary Principal’s Conference in Coffs Harbour today and tomorrow. I am also away on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week attending the Art of Leadership Masterclass. These things are booked well in advance but my apologies that the two have come together. Mrs Sweeney will be relieving for me in my absence. Our School Concert is coming along very well – our senior class had their first rehearsal in the hall yesterday and other classes will be doing the same over the next 2 weeks. Please make sure you have Wednesday 26th September in your calendar – BBQ 6p.m. & Concert 7p.m. Please bring a plate to share for supper. Our last Assembly for Term 3 will be organised by the Year K/1 students on Friday 28th September and will commence at 12:45pm. You are all very welcome. Jude Voisey Principal 13 September, 2018. ABC for You and Me

Getting Enough Sleep!

Adequate sleep is important for all of us but it is of particular importance to children, as growth and development occurs mostly during sleep. Adequate sleep also ensures that children are well rested for school the following day. Lack of sufficient sleep can cause irritability and can affect concentration and alertness in class. High screen-use has been shown to negatively impact both the amount and quality of sleep among children and adolescents.

Did you know?

High screen-use is linked to poor sleep.

Children with a television in their bedroom spend about 1.5 hours a day longer

using screens than those without.

Children and adolescents with a TV, gaming console or computer in their bedroom

are less likely to get sufficient sleep than those without.
