HEAD COACHJulie

DARTY2nd SeasonMercer, ‘08

She got her start as an assistant coach at Lake Mary (Fla.) High School. At the same time, she helped with two club teams in the Orlando area. As a former student-athlete herself, Darty is well-fa-miliarized with the Southeast and the Atlantic Sun. She holds a degree in communications from Mercer, where she graduated in 2008. As a four-year player for the Bears, Darty earned A-Sun All-Freshman honors and led the team in kills per set all four years, setting the career record in program history for that category. What They Are Saying About Julie Darty: “Julie’s return to the Sunshine State is great for the sport of volleyball. She has been part of a number of successful programs and we can look forward to see-ing her continued success at Jacksonville.” - Mary Wise, Head Volleyball Coach, University of Florida “Julie is a phenomenal recruiter and coach. JU is fortunate to have someone of her caliber at the helm of volleyball!” - Judy Van Horn, Senior Associate Athletics Director, University of South Carolina “I have had the opportunity to not only coach against Julie during her playing days at Mercer, but also get to know her through her rise through the coaching world. In both places I have always been impressed with her passion which she approaches the game with. She is a tireless worker and understands what it takes and what is needed to win at a championship level. She has a wonderful eye for talent and is very well respected amongst her peers due to her work ethic and willingness to go that extra mile. Julie is a tremendous competitor and it will be great having her back in the Atlantic Sun.” - Brandon Rosenthal, Head Volleyball Coach, Lip-scomb University

Jacksonville University announced the hiring of Julie Darty in April of 2014, and in the first year at the helm of her own program, she led the Dolphins to its third regular season title.

Finishing its Atlantic Sun slate 4-for-5 allowed Jack-sonville to enter the conference tournament with a No. 3 seed, and after sweeping the competition by a score of 3-1 in all three tournament matches, the Dolphins earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Darty’s first year with Jacksonville’s beach and indoor programs spawned an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, an Atlantic Female Student-Athlete of the Year, an Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, three All-At-lantic Sun First Team honors, two All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team honors and four Academic All-Con-ference Team honors.

Before Jacksonville, Darty spent two seasons at the University of South Carolina where she was the Asso-ciate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Gamecocks. After the 2012 season, she was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) “Thirty Under 30” list as one of the rising stars in the coaching world. In her time in Columbia, the Game-cocks won 30 games and posted just their second winning record in a decade during the 2012 season.

Prior to South Carolina, Darty spent a pair of seasons at Villanova University, where the Wildcats posted back-to-back top-four finishes in the 15-team Big East in the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
