Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups is the first, largest and busiest shared services centre for voluntary and com munity organisations in Ireland. The main objective of the Centre is to nurture and support the development of small and medium voluntary and community groups. Carmichael Centre provides a wide range of services to enable voluntary and community groups to maximise their impact. There are 48 resident organisations in the Centre which is based in two fine listed buildings, Carmichael House and Coleraine House, in North Inner City Dublin.

This community of small charitable groups concerned with illness, social care, sport, education, the environment, disability and the arts, share the facilities and services that the Centre provides. It is a unique atmosphere in which small organisations can flourish and the wider voluntary and community sector can meet, communicate and support each other. Almost 600 other organisations used the services of the Centre last year.

Carmichael Centre encourages good practice in the community and voluntary sector through training, consultancy, advocacy and shared services provision.

Carmichael Centre offers the following services: Office space, administration back-up, conference facilities and meeting rooms, training & support, customised training, a national governance project, telephone support service, consultancy service, payroll and accountancy services, information and communications technology support and assistance with policy development.

The Centre also provides space for debate on common issues to voluntary and community organisations.

Approximately half of the resident member organisations are managed entirely by volunteers, the balance having between one and five staff members. All donations greatly appreciated.
