ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIESJunior Philippines Institute of Accountants
Second Semester, SY 2013-2014
The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) is an organization that
represents BSA and BSAT students in the country.JPIA is one of the most highly
esteemed student organization in the university striving to promote a culture of harmony
and unity among its members. As a student organization, it is governed by its
constitution and by-laws which envisions the development of its members to be
responsible, honest, God-fearing and well-rounded individuals.
JPIA’s efforts are directed towards the promotion, organization and
implementation of activities for the development of its members and to nurture them to
not only excel academically but also for their total development. The activities are
expected to be a way for the members to utilize their knowledge, skills and good
attitudes and values.
In the second semester of this school year, JPIA held three major activities, to
wit:
1. General Assembly
2. Oath Taking and Testimonial Ceremony Celebration
3. Auditing Seminar.
Evaluations of these activities were made to determine its success, relevance
and possible improvement/s to be considered in the future. This data analysis will be
beneficial to the organization to enhance the quality of service they’re giving to its
members and improve the conduct of future activities. The evaluation covered the
aspects of activity title/theme/objectives, logistics, and the program proper. Analyses of
the data of the evaluations were done using the five point scale of interpretation, to wit:
Excellent-5; Very Satisfactory-4; Satisfactory-3; Needs Improvement-2; and Poor-1.
JPIA General Assembly
JPIA General Assembly is conducted every semester and participated by
students of accountancy and accounting technology programs. The activity is aimed to
orient the JPIA members on the upcoming activities that the organization will undertake
for the semester and as well as the activities to be organized by the university in which
JPIA will partake. In addition, it has always been an aim of this activity to foster
camaraderie and rapport among its members.
For the second semester of the A.Y. 2013-2014 the general assembly was held
on November 21, 2013, 4:00-6:30 pmat the Misamis University Function Hall. The
evaluation of the assembly was participated by 49 students and yielded several
findings. Generally, the activity title, theme and objectives of the general assembly
were very satisfactory as revealed by the average weighted mean of 3.93 which means
that the assembly was very satisfactory in terms of its appropriateness of title/theme to
the nature and type of activity conducted, consistency of the objectives with the goals of
the organization, discussion of core values and skills related to human relations and
field of work and opportunities for the acquisition of new learning and insights. It is
therefore very evident that members really understand the role of the organization in the
attainment of the programs’ goals and objectives in developing the necessary
competencies to the students as defined in the program.
Another aspect of the activity being evaluated is related to logistics. As
evidenced by its weighted mean of 3.92, it is observed that most of the students rated
such activity very satisfactory. The activity was very satisfactory in terms of convenience
and appropriateness of date and time, suitability of the venue, use of various strategies,
technical equipment and physical arrangement. It is therefore noted that in the technical
aspect of conducting student activities, the organization has very satisfactorily met the
expectations of its members.
The last aspect of evaluation is the program proper which also got a very
satisfactory rating at an average weighted mean of 4.09. The students noted that the
program was very satisfactory because there was evidence of participation and interest
from the participants or audience, relevance of the activity in the life experiences of the
students, smoothness in the conduct of the program, effectiveness of the facilitators and
the display of intelligence, enthusiasm and expertise of the guest or resource speakers
and lecturers.

Oath Taking and Testimonial Ceremony
The JPIA recognizes the importance of the values of perseverance, diligence and
hard work. The organization believes that with these values coupled with the necessary
knowledge and skills will lead its members in passing the CPA /CAT board exam and in
becoming responsible members of the community. With this belief, the organization
conducts an oath taking and testimonial ceremony every semester to let its recent
passers of the CPA board exam to have their oath taking and to share their testimonies
and advices to the members of the organization. In a way this will rekindle the spirit of
perseverance, diligence and hard work among its members. Furthermore, the Philippine
Accountancy Act of 2004 mandates that passers should make an oath before the
exercise of the profession. In pursuance with this mandate, the other purpose of the
activity is for the passers to have their required oath taking.
For the second semester, A.Y. 2013-2014, the JPIA conducted its Oath Taking
and Testimonial Ceremony on November 30, 2013 held at the MU-IMC. An evaluation
of the success and relevance of the activity was done using data gathered from 50
respondents and the following results were found.
Under the first category of activity title/theme/objectives, the activity got an
average weighted mean of 4.32 which simply reveals that the students were very
satisfied in terms of the alignment and consistency of the goals and objectives of the
Oath taking and Testimonial ceremony with that of the goals and objectives of the
college and the university in general. It can also be marked that the opportunity of the
audiences for new insights and learnings one of the major objective of the activity got a
close to outstanding rating of 4.50.
Another area of evaluation is the logistics where the activity proved also to be
satisfactory as shown by its weighted mean of 4.08. Students are satisfied in terms of
physical arrangement of venue, and the strategies/techniques including the technical
equipment used in the entire activity.
As for the last category which is the Program Proper, the activity resulted also to
be very satisfactory as revealed by its mean of 4.24. In terms of the efficient and
effective performance of every program and the evidence of audience participation and
interest, on the testimonial ceremony did very well. This means that the teachers and
other facilitators ensured that all parts of the activity were well taken care of. There was
a smooth flow of the different components of the program and there were minimal
lapses as to time matters.
In general, the Oath taking and Testimonial Ceremony proved to be very
satisfactory in all areas of evaluation based on the data.

Auditing Seminar
JPIA is dedicated in developing members with awareness towards the needs of
the community and acting to address the need. With its main expertise in accounting,
the organization has conducted an auditing seminar which was attended by the auditors
of the different recognized student organizations as well as auditors of the different
colleges in the university. The event was conducted on February 15, 2014, 8:00 am at
the CBM-AVR.
The activity aims to help auditors in the performance of their roles in their
organization. A speaker from the Internal Auditors Office was asked to share insights on
how to audit their financial statements and every financial aspect in of their
organization/college.
As part of the standard operating procedures, the activity was rated with the
evaluation instrument of the university. The latter was evaluated in the following five
categories: (a) Theme/Objective, (b) Speaker/Facilitator, (c) Program, (d) Venue and (e)
Personnel. Each category is rated as follows- 5 (Outstanding), 4 (Very Satisfactorily), 3
(Satisfactorily), 2 (Needs Improvement), 1 (Poor) and 0 (Not Applicable). The activity
was evaluated by 16 respondents and the following results were found.
For the first aspect which is the Theme/Objectives, the activity conducted earned
a very satisfactory rating of 4.13.It can be concluded that the seminar is aligned with the
organization’s goals. In addition, the activity very satisfactorily promoted the core values
of honesty and integrity as evidenced by the emphasis on the clean and honest audit,
and also excellence in the conduct of their roles as auditors.
As to speaker/facilitator, the respondents responded to a very satisfactory rating
of 3.94. This reflects the level of skill, competency, confidence, and enthusiasm of the
speaker of the seminar.
As to the program proper, it yielded a satisfactory rating of 2.95. Therefore, it can
be said that the respondents were satisfied as to the flow of the program, the
opportunity given for them to participate and as well as the convenience and
appropriateness of the date and time for the conduct of the activity.
Also an important aspect of the activity is the venue, based on the evaluation this
category garnered a satisfactory rating of 3.11. The respondents were satisfied as to the
suitability and convenience of the venue in the conduct of the activity. In addition, there
is very satisfactory rating for the condition of the technical equipment and the physical
arrangement of the venue.
Lastly, as to Personnel, there is a very satisfactory rating of 3.88. This means
that the organizers were able to function as to their responsibilities and duties for the
conduct of the activity.
