„Unity is Strength …when there is teamwork and collaboration wonderful things can be achieved‟- Mattie

This year Principal Susan Roy has planned accordingly and the team has started with the implementation of the

same.

The Goal Set for this year is “Promotion of quality teaching and learning‟ which will be evaluated at the

end of academic year through:

1. Student performance, data analysis and result interpretation.

2. Internal and external class room observations. Teacher feedback forms, randomized teacher opinion

polls from parents and students about the class room process.

3. Systematic review from parents, through a reflective evaluation practice. Parent focus group interviews.

The role of parents in helping us achieve our goal is of paramount importance; in fact it‟s the most accurate

predictor of a child‟s success in school. The three R‟s, Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships will help us

to form those partnerships that truly make a lasting difference to all kids.

STAGE CRAFT (THEATRE) – 19th

of July, 2017

“Drama and theatre is a unique art. One has to get into the shoes of another character, feel what they feel

and say what they say”.

Our school believes in the all round development of the students had hence organized a drama contest „Stage

Craft‟ for the students of Grade XI and XII. The actors were called

„The Thespians‟- a Greek word which means stage performers. The

set-up, including the props and the lighting of the stage was done by

the participants themselves. The judge for the event was our Principal

Susan Roy. The head of the English Department

Mrs. Geetamani Ma‟am gave the audience a brief introduction of what

was to take place. She explained the rules to the participants and told

them the categories under which their play would be marked.

The students of Grade 11 went first. The plot line and title of their

play was revealed in their narrator‟s speech. They performed the famous Shakespearean play „Julius

Caesar‟.Next, the Grade 12 students took over the stage. Their play „Un-unravel able‟ was self-written by their

fellow mate Rashika N Makam.

The audience went wild with their applause for both performances. The Principal declared the 12th Graders as

the winners. The best actor was declared as Sucheth Hegde and the Best Actress was Rashika N Makan. The

while Grade 12 were applauded for originality of play and characterization. This Interclass event provided the

students a gateway to exhibit their hidden talents and expertise in drama and theatre.

LITERARY TOURISM-12 July 2017 The English Department conducted „Literary Tourism‟ for the students of grade VIII in the auditorium of the

school. The competition entailed the students to choose an author and give an oral presentation aided by a

visual presentation, charts and props. Eight groups qualified for the finals from the audition conducted in each

section. Ms. Meera Rao and Ms. Sajitha judged the competition. This competition aimed to get the non-readers

interested in reading by knowing about an author of their choice and the readers to display their knack at

enjoying literature. Most importantly, „Literary Tourism‟ was fashioned to develop the LSWR skills of the

students.

VALUE TALK Mr. Pasha our parent and his team were involved in conducting a

special orientation sessions on Life Skills that are required to be imbibed

by the students. The session was conducted for the students of grade 1 to

grade 5.A story was shown to the children based on honesty and to be

satisfied with what we have .Questions were asked based on the story.

He asked the children to share their experience in their day to day

situation (telling lies and later repenting about it) Children were very

enthusiastic to give the answers.

Mr. Pasha chose topics as per the age group and learning levels of the

students. His orientation was also supported by a presentation and some

Visual Aids.

STORY TELLING BY CRAIG JENKINS- 12th September 2017 Story telling is one of the Universal and traditional art forms that has featured strongly in our culture as an

effective communication tool. It can be used to inform, entertain and educate people. It is often used as a

medium to improve reading skills.

The session started with a self introduction of the team by Ms

Sneha. The session was indeed valuable and distinct. Students

found it really interesting and engrossed in listening to the

stories of “The King with a Big Moustache”, “The Grumpy

Princess”, “The lazy Jack” and “The Bear and the Pig” which

was told to them with creative gestures and facial expressions.

The appropriate use of voice modulation and body language

infused passion, enhanced imagination and expressions which

introduced students to the new horizons of “story telling‟.

What Mr Craig brought during his session was simply the beautiful oral tradition passed down to him through

his much loved Guru Vayu Naidu, a story teller of Indian origin.

It was an exciting, enticing and educational experience through which he applied his successful mantra of

taking old, traditional stories and bringing them into the contemporary world. This allows students of all ages

to deconstruct the stories they have heard all their lives and to look at them from a different angle.

„walking the talk‟. She shared two anecdotal stories about the “Father of our Nation” -Mahatma Gandhi and

Abraham Lincoln. She pointed out that these towering statesmen had always demonstrated that, integrity is

resonant with the perfume of national pride and love for the motherland. As the school choir then started

singing the lilting yet soothing “Vande Mataram” --- many of those gathered joined them in song and were left

moved to tears.

audience down the lanes of history as they chronicled India‟s

freedom struggle and her birth as a free entity on 15th

August

1947. This was followed by an energetic, well synchronized dance

performance by students of Grade 9 to the song “Desh Rangeela

Rangeela, Desh Mera Rangeela”.

Principal Susan Roy Ma‟am addressed the gathering. She

encouraged all those present to think about what the “Spirit of

being Indian” meant to them in the current scenario.Narrating an

incident from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose‟s life which

demonstrates his kindheartedness and compassion for the suffering of the downtrodden she said Indians need

to remember that his Indian National Army had forced the British to free India from their colonial rule. She

enlightened students on the point that the Indian pledge was the only one in the world that laid down the virtue

of respect for one‟s parents, teachers and elders..

Educated the student‟s on the government‟s call to correct

answer sheets stringently.

Alarmed them that the system of giving grace marks to a

student to let him or her pass the board exam would soon

be wiped out. Students will be marked solely on the basis

of merit and performance.

Cautioned them that as a pre-emptive action in the lines of

the government‟s call, every student should work hard and

achieve a clear pass.

Highlighted the point that 70% of preparation of a lesson

takes place through classroom teaching. Therefore, every

student should try to remain present on all days and listen

to the teacher attentively in the class.

Sensitized the students on the repercussions of behaving

badly with teachers and students in the school.

I Thank God

I thank God for the eyes that see me whenever He‟s around,

I thank him for the ears that hear all the answers and reply as humble to the ground.

I thank him for the lips that speak and the board he writes, without these there is no

knowledge to seek and learn about good and bad or wrong and right.

I thank him for the hands that write each and every Childs future clean and clear and right.

I thank him for the patience and skill because of which he handles everything calm and

light.

I thank him for one thing all above for giving me a teacher with the most loving heart,

her love is unconditional quite like a mother

And all the things they do is for our good sake, they are willing to give their all and

their love is never fake.
