I never hide from Erma when it’s time to get my pill,

Or wake up everybody when they are being still.

I don’t hog treats at nighttime, or jump from bed to bed,

So make sure you’ve lots of bell toys to deliver with your sled!

When I lived in the woods, I was all alone; I never heard “sit” or “stay”.

So when I came here, forgive me, but I like to jump and play.

Verena has tried her very best to teach me how to act;

When she’s not here, I’m sweet and shy—and, Santa, that’s a fact!

When Rudolph with the red nose leads you to our home,

Look for me, the gorgeous cat—I very rarely roam.

My chores are never-ending; I work and work all day.

I never rest from dawn to dusk; I just wish I had time to play.

Dear Santa,

The notes above are lovely, but no perfect pets live here.

We bark and bark, run in and out—when scolded, have no fear.

We miss and miss the litter box and are forever causing rifts.

No matter what we’re loved a lot, so Santa, please bring us gifts!
