Strategic leadership—We have clear Strategic

Aims to guide our work over a three year period.

The Senior Leadership Team have clear strategic

remits linked to these Aims.

Whole staff leadership—All staff are involved in

the leadership of school improvement through

professional learning and working groups; staff share

good practice and professional learning with each

other

Children’s leadership—All pupil groups have clear

remits linked to school priorities; Our House system

and Pupil Council is beginning to give all children

opportunities for wider involvement in our

improvement priorities.

Curriculum Rationale—We have consulted

on what we want our curriculum to provide and

achieve and published our Curriculum Rationale.

A group of children have produced an animation

to bring this to life!

Key Skills—We now have 5 Key Skills that we

want children to develop across the school. Next

we will set out how children can progress in

these skills and appoint Pupil Skills Ambassadors

to help lead this.

Learning pathways—We have developed new

pathways in Reading and Listening and Talking;

we have updated our pathway in Numeracy.

Next we will revisit our pathways in all other

curricular areas.

Partners * —We have held a partners’

conference to consider how we can involve our

partners more in the work we do. Next we will

build planning and evaluation with our partners

into our approach.

Parents—We are continuing to develop our

Learning Journals; we have included two extra

open afternoons this session. Next we will

arrange workshops, guidance leaflets and review

our approach to home learning.

* Partners = parents, community members, businesses,

clubs/groups, voluntary sector and others who support

us to deliver the curriculum.

St. Ronan’s—Our Journey to Excellence—Our Story so Far—March 2019

A consistent learning and teaching framework—

We have agreed and implemented a consistent framework

for teaching and learning across the School; Our children

and staff use a shared language for learning through our 4

part lesson model.

Assessment framework to support learning—We

have a clear strategic plan for how and when we will

assess and measure children's progress. We are in the

process of implementing this across the school to help us

to accurately identify progress and next steps in learning.

Tracking and monitoring progress in learning—We

have developed a clear system which is helping us to track

children’s progress in Literacy and Numeracy, plan

support required and identify next steps for children and

for our school improvement priorities.

Equality, diversity and inclusion—We have developed a

Policy for Equality & Diversity to guide the way we work, this

was launched during our Diversity Week.; all staff have been

trained in inclusive practices to promote respectful

relationships. Next we will develop the restorative approach to

encourage children to take responsibility, develop self-

awareness and manage their feelings and actions.

Wellbeing indicators—There is now a common language for

Wellbeing across the school, with staff regularly referring to the

indicators in class and in planning for children. P.2 -P.7 children

have self-evaluated using the Wellbeing indicators. This term

each House is focusing on a specific Wellbeing indicator

through House Assemblies and activities. Next, we will carry

out another self-evaluation using the Wellbeing indicators and

develop Wellbeing activities through our House system.

Health and Wellbeing Curriculum—We have developed a

clear Health and Wellbeing Overview which includes, Respectful

Relationships, Growing Confidence, a Growth Mindset and

Partnership Working. Next we will implement our Health and

Wellbeing programmes across the school

Supporting learning—We have developed a more strategic

and robust approach to planning, tracking and recording the

impact of support for all our children, including the impact of

planned interventions. We have developed clearly defined staff

roles and responsibilities. Next we will ensure that our

approach to supporting learning continues to focus on

improving outcomes for all.
