History of zero

• It is said that zero originated or was created in these 3 places----

1. Ancient India. 2. Ancient Babylon. 3. Mayan Civilization.• Historians believed that it came in

existence from 458 AD.• Zeros were created at different times in

each of these civilizations.• Aryabhatta (mathematician-

astronomer)- known for discovery of zero.

• Aryabhatta invented the number 0.

• He was one of the world’s greatest mathematician-astronomer.

• He was the first mathematician to use the concept of zero.

• He used zero first time to define decimal system.

IMPORTANCE OF ZERO

Indians invented me.Arabs took me to their homeland.Romans did not have a symbol for free

zero.Addition and more so is multiplicative are

terribly complicated.Invention of zero liberated the whole

world from the prison bars of abacus.

positive and negative integer. No binary system ( computer not

possible). No calculation.
