SUMMER TIME CHILLING Journal entry number 1 describes Anne’s feeling for members of the Secret Annex. One person she connects with is Peter. This past summer I went to a teen travel camp for Warwick Township. When I first arrived I didn’t know anyone. It was a rule that you had to be with at least one other person when we got to Point Pleasant Beach. I approached some kids who looked familiar but were older than me. I ended up hanging out with then that day, but we really didn’t have a lot in common. I stayed with their group for 2 more days. I knew I needed to meet other people. The next day we were at a water park called Dutch Springs in the Lehigh Valley. I gave this one boy from another group, Alex, some cotton candy and he said he liked me. He then introduced me to his friend and neighbor, Nolan. The following day we went to Dorney Park. Nolan and I were both afraid to go on the roller coaster, Steel Force. We agreed that if one of us went, the other would go too. We sat next to each other and were scared when it went up the steep incline. After the ride finished we ended up liking it so much that we went on it another 6 times. After talking the rest of the day, we realized that we had the same taste in music. We also had a similar sense of humor. Both of us were also registered for the next week of camp. We ended up hanging out every day. Our favorite day was white water

SUMMER TIME CHILLING

Journal entry number 1 describes Anne’s feeling for members of the Secret Annex. One

person she connects with is Peter.

This past summer I went to a teen travel camp for Warwick Township. When I first

arrived I didn’t know anyone. It was a rule that you had to be with at least one other person when

we got to Point Pleasant Beach. I approached some kids who looked familiar but were older than

me. I ended up hanging out with then that day, but we really didn’t have a lot in common. I

stayed with their group for 2 more days. I knew I needed to meet other people.

The next day we were at a water park called Dutch Springs in the Lehigh Valley. I gave

this one boy from another group, Alex, some cotton candy and he said he liked me. He then

introduced me to his friend and neighbor, Nolan. The following day we went to Dorney Park.

Nolan and I were both afraid to go on the roller coaster, Steel Force. We agreed that if one of us

went, the other would go too. We sat next to each other and were scared when it went up the

steep incline. After the ride finished we ended up liking it so much that we went on it another 6

times.

After talking the rest of the day, we realized that we had the same taste in music. We also

had a similar sense of humor. Both of us were also registered for the next week of camp. We

ended up hanging out every day. Our favorite day was white water rafting. Nolan and I ended up

being the only ones left in our boat, as everyone else fell out.

Even though Nolan and I haven’t been able to get together during the school year, we

keep in touch on face time and have made plans to go back to the camp next summer. I’m

looking forward to seeing my friend in person and having more adventures.
