Joshua 1 1 Now after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, 2 Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

It's been over 40 yearsover 40 years since God spoke to Moses at the burning bush.

It's been over 400 yearsover 400 years since He promised Jacob to bring his family back home.

God alwaysalways keeps His WordHis Word.

Let's be contentcontent with the lives GodGod has given us.

Do all that HeHe wants us to do.

Be all that GodGod wants us to be.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

God gave them title to the land,

But they had to possess it!

Jesus provided salvationsalvation for all men.

We have to acceptaccept His free gift.He came that we might have abundant lifeabundant life.

We have to live it His WayHis Way to receive the blessing.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

A great land of many

blessings.

The Israelites never possessed but a small small portionportion of all that God had given them.

Because they never movednever moved into all the land.

They got distracteddistracted by the people, the customs, the women, and the godsgods of the land.

Canaan was a physical, geographical placegeographical place that God had given to His people.

But He has prepared a spiritual Canaanspiritual Canaan, a Promised LandPromised Land for us -- the church.

It is a relationshiprelationship with Almighty God in which we are blessed with His PresenceHis Presence;

We are filledfilled with His Spirit;

He is our Savior and Lord, Healer, Provider, Protector, Comforter, and Friend.

We have to walk with Godwalk with God in this Spiritual Land.

We possess it by faith.

There are enemies in this land.

Ephesians 6 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the Power of His Might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devilwiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle notnot against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Anything that draws us awaydraws us away from the Path that GodPath that God has laid out for us.

In the Power of God we can march victoriousvictorious over all the trickstricks of devils.

We can be changedchanged from the inside out.

Our desires, hopes, dreams, and wishes will change.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

God promised Joshua victoryvictory over every enemy.

He promised nevernever to leave him alone.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to doobserve to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn turn notnot from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosperprosper whithersoever thou goest.

It does take courage and strength to obey God in all things.

Prosper = to have intelligence and skill, and to be successful in every venture.

The moral courage to follow God, submittingsubmitting ourselves to His Will, walkingwalking in the Authority

of His Word and the Power of His Spirit.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditatemeditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to doobserve to do according to all that is written therein: for thenthen thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and thenthen thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Hebrews 13 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

We always have God's PresenceGod's Presence;

HowHow can we be less than content?

How can we be afraidafraid?

God has given us His WordHis Word that we may live lives filled with blessingfilled with blessing.

He warns uswarns us against the dangers.

He teachesteaches us to do those things that bring blessing.

Hebrews 6 12 That ye be not slothful (lazy), but followers of them who through faithfaith and patiencepatience inherit the promises.

No time limit on patience
