Birth

• Joseph Marcelo Ejercito Estrada was born on April 19, 1937 in Tondo, Manila the poorest district of manila. He is the eight of ten children. His parents were Engineers. Emilio Ejercito and Maria Marcelo, moved to San Juan where he resides up to this day

• He studied at a Jesuit run Ateneo de Manila he later took engineering in Mapua Institute of Technology

Life as an actor

• At the age of 20 Estrada was accidentally chosen to become a film actor he played the lead role of more than 100 films and was the producer of more than 70 films he won many awards for these films

Mayor

• He started his life of politics on August 5,1969 when he was elected and reelected mayor of San Juan which he served with dedication and distinction for more than 16 years but was asked to step down due to the 1986 EDSA revolution. In 1972 he was awarded as one of the ten most outstanding men and was voted outstanding mayor in provincial service information he was also awarded most outstanding mayor of metro manila by the Princeton poll

Senator

• The following year after he was pushed out of mayor he ran for senator and won he placed 16th out of 24. As a senator he passed bills which were made to laws like The preservation of the Carabao RA7307 and the construction of irrigation projects RA6978 he was also one of the magnificent 12 who voted the us troops out of the Philippine airbase

Vice-President

• He won vice-president on 1992 as vice-president he was appointed head of the PACC by Pres Fidel Ramos he arrested warlords syndicates etc. in 1997 together with cardinal sin pres Corazon Aquino and GMA who was a senator then led an anti-charter change rally at Rizal park against charter change moves by Fidel Ramos. He also funded the PHILDARE which is a group against drugs he resigned chairman of the PACC on June 4 1997

• He was elected president on 1998 on his inauguration he said “One hundred years after Kawit, fifty years after independence, twelve years after EDSA, and seven years after the rejection of foreign bases, it is now the turn of the masses to experience liberation. We stand in the shadow of those who fought to make us free- free from foreign domination, free from domestic tyranny, free from superpower dictation, free from economic backwardness”

• Estrada won the biggest ever margin of victory in the recorded in his inauguration he said “Walang kaibigan walang kumpare walang kamag-anak was his stern warning.He also immediately removed all sovereign guarantee with any company records show he never signed one until January 20 2001

Erap to leave Phil

• At first they tried to get Erap out of the Phil. by the efforts of justice secretary Nany Perez but then ERAP declined next they used blackmail telling him that if he does not leave they will file false charges again ERAP declined and said he would face the false charges

• Joseph Estrada was accused of spending long hours drinking and having midnight drinking sessions he was also accused of plunder and corruption also he was accused of perjury

• The judge was chief justice ilario Davique the EDSA 2 was started when on Erap’s trial the second envelope was voted not to be opened 11-10 which led to the power grab or EDSA 2 in which Gloria Macapagal Arroyo with church officials businessmen and PNP officials closed ranks against Erap.

• After EDSA People Power 2 Erap was forced to make a temporary leave from malacanang to prevent violence He was initially detained at veterans memorial medical center in manila but was then moved to a military facility in tanay rizal but was transferred to a nearby vacation home under house arrest

• Erap was proven guilty of perjury but not guilty of plunder was the decision and the punishment was permanent jail and the return of over 200 000 000 pesos

Appeal

• On September 26, 2007, Joseph Estrada appealed by filing a 63-page motion for reconsideration of the Sandiganbayan judgment penned by Teresita De Castro (submitting 5 legal grounds). Estrada alleged that the court erred "when it convicted him by acquitting his alleged co-conspirators."

On October 5, 2007, the Sandiganbayan's Special Division ruled to have set for October 19,

oral argument (instead of a defense reply) on Joseph

Estrada’s motion for reconsideration. Estrada asked court permission to attend the hearing, since it ordered the prosecution to file comment

• On October 22, 2007, Acting Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera stated that Joseph Estrada is seeking a “full, free, and unconditional pardon” from President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Estrada's lawyer Jose Flaminiano wrote Arroyo:
