Pastors letter Dear parishioners, I had a very restful vacation at the beach. But I am glad to be back this weekend with everyone including our new full-time parochial vicar, Fr. Solomon. I thank God, the bishop and Fr. Solomon for having a full-time parochial vicar. Having an additional priest enriches parishes and allows us to respond better to God’s calling in this parish. It relieves me of a great deal of stress as well. But guess what, just as soon as I get back both Fr. Solomon and I as well as all the priests of the diocese will be departing on Monday, Labor Day, for our annual diocesan retreat at the Marywood Retreat Center in Jack-sonville, Florida. Fr. Solomon will have daily Mass on Labor Day and then there will be Communion Services Tuesday through Friday at 9 AM in our chapel. Please pray for all of us priests traveling to Jacksonville and please know that we will be praying for you as well. Usually when we priests are praying and intercessions are offered, various priests, especially those of us living in the coastal areas of our diocese, will offer prayers asking God to spare us of hurricanes. I would ask you to ask God to do the same! We’ve had to evacuate Jacksonville a couple of times while on retreat because of the prediction of hurricanes and their paths. And we in Richmond Hill, who obey the law to evacuate during the last two hurricanes in the last three years, know how inconvenient it is to do so. The treat of death and property damage is very stressful, too, to say the least! Next weekend we begin our annual Catholic Stewardship renewal. Brian and Karen Krupp will share with us during Mass their own calling to be good stewards of their Catholic faith here at Saint Anne’s. The weekend after that, we will watch our first ever homemade stewardship video during the homily. After each Mass there will be the ministry fair highlighting the various ministries offered here at St. Anne’s. Then on the third weekend I will conclude our stewardship renewal by encouraging you to make your commitments to offer God and Saint Anne’s by returning a portion of your time, talent and treasure to Saint Anne’s parish. I hope all of you who labor so hard throughout the year to support your family and lifestyle and to be charitable to those in need will enjoy Labor Day on Monday. May God bless all who work so hard to make life better for everyone. Happy Labor Day and God bless you. See you next weekend! Your pastor,
