• 2000-2004The company opens a new platinum group metal catalyst manufacturing plant in Taloja, India and acquires the AMC Group of companies and Lancaster Synthesis. The Pigments and Dispersions business is sold. Johnson Matthey celebrates 30 years in the development of autocatalysts

• 2013Johnson Matthey acquires Formox, a leading global provider of catalysts, plant designs and licences for the manufacture of formaldehyde. The company’s technologies complement Johnson Matthey’s existing strengths in process catalysts and in plant design and licensing              

• 2010New emission control catalyst manufacturing facilities are opened in Macedonia, Smithfield in the USA and Shanghai, China. Johnson Matthey acquires Intercat, Inc., a supplier of speciality additives to the petroleum refining industry

• 2013Johnson Matthey acquires Formox, a leading global provider of catalysts, plant designs and licences for the manufacture of formaldehyde. The company’s technologies complement Johnson Matthey’s existing strengths in process catalysts and in plant design and licensing

• 2014Johnson Matthey wins The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. The prestigious award recognises the company’s achievements in developing and manufacturing emission control catalysts, using resources efficiently and meeting challenging sustainability targets. The award is presented at an event to celebrate 40 years since the production of Johnson Matthey’s first autocatalyst – the name given to emission control catalysts used in cars – at its site in Royston, UK.

• The group will continue to focus on leading edge catalysis, driven by major global trends such as improving air quality, energy security, sustainability and development in emerging markets.

• The group will maintain differentiation through technology supported by enhanced investment in R&D in its core market areas.

• A strong position in platinum group metals will remain an intrinsic part of the group.

• Our primary focus will be organic growth. The group will however, maintain its strategy of making bolt-on acquisitions in core areas where they will accelerate organic growth.
