GLOBAL CCS INSTITUTE
The Global CCS Institute connects parties around the world to solve problems, address
issues and learn from each other to accelerate the deployment of CCS projects through:
ASSISTING PROJECTS
bridging knowledge gaps between demonstration efforts; and
developing project-specific solutions particularly amongst early movers.
SHARING KNOWLEDGE
collecting information to create a central repository for CCS information; and
creating and sharing information to fill knowledge gaps and build capacity.
FACT-BASED ADVOCACY
to inform and influence domestic and international low carbon policies;
to advance understanding of appropriate risk regimes, funding and financing
solutions; and
raising awareness of the benefits of CCS and its role within a portfolio of low
carbon technologies.

CCS POLICY AND FUNDING SUPPORT
11
1. Action is needed now to ensure CCS can play a vital role in
tackling climate change.
2. CCS is already contributing, but progress must be accelerated.
3. Steady progress but important developments.
4. Encouraging policy support but more required.
5. Barriers must be overcome to realise the benefits of CCS.
6. Reducing the cost of technology through demonstration projects
is vital.
7. Acceleration of CCS depends on collaboration and knowledge
sharing.

Established in 2009 to generate early benefit from a coordinated
European action on CCS-demonstration projects.
Current members comprise of the most advanced five large scale
demonstration projects in Europe.
Projects are welcome to join.
Objectives
Enabling knowledge-sharing amongst projects.
Address key topics that will enable CCS project deployment.
Promote CCS, EU leadership and cooperation potential.
