WHAT ATTENDEES WILL LEARN:
• Why using only one bracket prescription is a hindrance to efficiency and profitability
• New advances in computer designed braces and aligners – Passive Self-ligating Labial and Lingual Appliance Systems and ClearGuide.
• How and why Insignia and the Lythos intraoral scanner are creating an exciting new path for improving the orthodontic process
• How to communicate the advantages of digital therapy to increase case acceptance
More than ever, patients are seeking shorter time in treatment and esthetic alternatives to conventional orthodontic bracket systems. While many straight wire appliances deliver reasonable results in most cases, occasionally it is necessary to modify the torque prescription of various brackets to gain the desired tooth movements. Unfortunately, bracket torque selection is tedious, subjective and often inaccurate. The development of computer designed appliance systems and temporary anchorage devices are helping the clinician satisfy these patient needs.
Dr. Smith will discuss why Insignia, patient specific computer designed, brackets are the latest innovation to improve treatment planning, accurate bracket placement and clinical efficiency. He will present numerous cases treated with combined Insignia, temporary anchorage devices and clear aligner therapy on the more challenging orthodontic problems.
The use of intraoral digital scanners will ultimately replace the burdensome process of impressions and greatly enhance accuracy and patient comfort. The new Lythos scanner is an integral part of the digital evolution in orthodontics. Dr. Smith will demonstrate the use of the scanner and review how the digital data is used for the Insignia Approver Software, appliance fabrication and other applications.
