“You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James 5:7-8 The Word of God say’s “Patience”, "patience in the face of suffering" (James 5:10)

NIV. As Christian brothers and sisters we endure many persecutions; some for their faith, by loss of jobs, loss of businesses, death, hunger, loss of homes and property (James 1:2). The pain and suffering will only continue to happen until Jesus comes to take us home. James 1:2 tells us to "Consider it pure joy... whenever you face trials of many kinds". He tells us to pray for wisdom (1:5). He tells us to remember "the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him" (1:12). He also, tells us to "be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry" (1:19). And, the Word of God says, "Be patient ... until the Lord's coming ... be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near" (James 5:7-8). Just as a farmer waits patiently for the harvest, so we as believers are to wait patiently for Jesus’ Second Coming, and for deliverance. The Word of God says we are to be patient with those who abuse us until the Lord comes, to develop an attitude of long-suffering toward our adversaries, “Bear your trials without retaliation and resentment. Wait on the Lord’s coming because we will find justice there.” Jesus told his disciples to NOT let their “heart be troubled” John 14:1, to believe in HIM who will strengthen our heart, to endure the discouragement and despair that can grip our hearts. So, “the Lord is faithful, who will establish and guard you” IIThess. 3:3. “Establish” means to make fast, to confirm. What is it to be patient and to be established? "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" Romans 12:12. If we believe God is Creator of and rules the universe then we must believe that God's providence and Spirit is working for our good. So don’t become upset, frustrated, unhappy when delays happen. We are not to become unhappy with God, and His timetable, with His plan. To many of us, delay seems senseless, useless and wasteful. But God who is sovereign, and in control, has a purpose for the delays He allows in our lives. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4) NIV Faith grows under trial. Faith becomes mature under trial. Faith that endures trials show that you are a “good and faithful” servant. – Elder Leal

Devotional Thought Today’s Offering is for the Local Church Operating Budget. Your donations keep our church and our school operating by covering the cost of utilities, supplies, and maintenance, as well as payroll for our secretary, custodian, and school employees.

Next Week’s Offering is for Adventist Community Services. Community Services is God’s invitation to do amazing things with Him. Hard times come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and Adventist Community Services is responding to individual needs, developing relationships, and committing to make a difference in people’s lives. ACS supports community outreach programs by funding development projects that make a major impact in your communities. A washer/dryer serves thousands of homeless to bring dignity and value to their lives. A shelter provides protection and offers hope. A portable shower trailer prepares someone for a job interview. And so much more. By supporting ACS, you can make a lasting impact and know that your dollars are going to something that is making a difference in a life. –2021 NAD Offertory Readings

Satan has represented God as selfish and oppressive, as claiming all, and giving nothing, as requiring the service of His creatures for His own glory, and making no sacrifice for their good. But the gift of Christ reveals the Father's heart. It testifies that the thoughts of God toward us are “thoughts of peace, and not of evil.” Jeremiah 29:11. It declares that while God's hatred of sin is as strong as death, His love for the sinner is stronger than death. The Desire of Ages pg. 57
