Glencoe Science offers an online version of our textbook Physical Science (2008).

East Cleveland City Schools should consider adding this valuable resource to our curriculum which would lead to improved student learning.

This online technology should be integrated into our current curriculum to help East Cleveland City School achieve their goals of improving student learning as laid out in our Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP).

This online student edition is relatively easy to use.Instructions are provided in the front cover of the Student Edition hardbound edition. Follow the steps to have a full version of the student textbook at your disposal.

The teacher does have to initiate the online textbook process before the students can have access.

We are limited to the actual number of textbooks purchased.

Glencoe Science: Physical Science (2008)Go to www.glencoe.com/ose1. Enter ACCESS CODE: D06631B4AB2. Select the red CONTENTS button on the lower right3. You may now use the Online textbookThis access code is valid for one school year and must be renewed.

With the addition of the online textbook students will always have access to their textbook without carrying a book home.

This would save on classroom costs by reducing the number of textbooks that must be replaced due to loss or damage.

One major drawback is that the student must have Internet access to use this online student version.

To alleviate this potential hardship I suggest that the school district acquire a CD-ROM provided by Glencoe called “Student Works”

This CD-ROM is an exact copy of the Student Edition.

The CD-ROM will even read aloud the actual text to the students aiding in their understanding of the material.

The student must be given a copy of the CD-ROM to use on their home computer. The initial set of CD-ROMs can be obtained by contacting Glencoe. The school district and Glencoe would have to reach an agreement on copying additional CD-ROMs.

In closing, as educators at East Cleveland City School adding a relatively inexpensive technology to our Science Curriculum should aid us in achieving our goals set forth in the CIP. To discuss these matter further please e-mail me, John Brosovich at :
