John 4:43-54John 4:43-54 53Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed.

They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have

heard for ourselves, and we know that this man

really is the Savior of the world.”

(John 4:42)

(John 4:42)

This is again a second sign that Jesus performed when He had come out of

Judea into Galilee. (John 4:54)

Miracles With A Message

#2 Don’t Drag Doubt Around:

A Heart Full Of Questions Makes The

Road Long!

The Story:

Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee where He had

made the water wine. And there

was a royal official whose son was sick at Capernaum.

(John 4:46)

(John 4:46)

And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.” (Matthew 21:11)

They answered him, “You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.” (John 7:52)

Jesus was born in Judea (Bethlehem) but raised in Galilee.

The first miracle at Cana came at the request of his mother.

The second miracle at Cana came at the request of a father.

Why return to Cana?

47When he heard that Jesus had

come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was

imploring [Him] to come down and heal his son; for he was at

the point of death. (John 4:47)

47When he heard that Jesus had

imploring [Him] to come down and heal his son; for he was at

the point of death. (John 4:47)

48So Jesus said to him, “Unless you [people] see signs

and wonders, you [simply] will not believe.”

(John 4:48)

48So Jesus said to him, “Unless you [people] see signs

and wonders, you [simply] will not believe.”

(John 4:48)

Jesus saw doubt in this man’s heart.

He had two misconceptions: Jesus had to come to

Capernaum to heal him. If his son died, it was too late.

The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

(John 4:49)

Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24)

Jesus said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.

(John 4:50)

And He said to them, “Because of the littleness

of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith

the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this

mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will

move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”

(Matthew 17:20)
