John 19:28-40
Take a look
I. Take a look at the Man
(Joh 19:1-5) Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the
soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the
Jews! and they smote him with their hands. Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the
purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
(Zec 6:12) And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose
name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
(Isa 52:14) As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of
men:
II. Take a look at the King
(Joh 19:12-14) And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against
Caesar. When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat
down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the
Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it was the preparation of the passover, and about
the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
(Zec 6:12-13) And speak unto him, saying, Thus
speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man
whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build
the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a
priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be
between them both.
(Zec 9:9) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of
Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto
thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal
of an ass.
(1Ti 6:14-15) That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate,
the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
III. Take a look at the Cross
(Luk 23:32-35) And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast
lots. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be
Christ, the chosen of God.
(2Co 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
(Col 2:14-15) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them
in it.
IV. Take a look at the Scars
(Joh 20:26) And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and
said, Peace be unto you.
(Joh 20:27) Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and
thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
(Psa 22:16) For dogs have
compassed me: the
assembly of the wicked
have inclosed me: they
pierced my hands and my
feet.
(Rev 4:10) The four and twenty elders fall down before him that
sat on the throne, and
worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and
cast their crowns before the
throne, saying,
IV. Take a look at where he Laid
(Mat 28:1-6) In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the
week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see
the place where the Lord lay.
(Mat 27:59-60) And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean
linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of
the sepulchre, and departed.
(Mat 28:2) And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat
upon it.
V. Take a look at where he Went
(Act 1:8-11) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a
cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men
stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing
up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so
come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
VII. Take a look at where he is Going
(Rev 1:7) Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth
shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
(Rev 22:20) He which testifieth
these things saith, Surely
I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
