Factors Considered in the Selection Process
● Skill level Students will be evenly distributed on teams based on skill level, according to what the teacher finds appropriate. This should keep all the games fair even, not allowing any team to either go undefeated, or have a winless season.
● Relationship among other classmates The teacher will try to put students who have
shown to work well with each other on the same team. Students who are often offtask will never be on the same team, and sometimes students who don’t work well together will be challenged to try and bridge the gap in their personal relationships.
● Leaders vs. followers The teacher will try to evenly distribute students who act as
leaders in the class and those who are followers, mixing both groups on each team. By doing this, hopefully the leaders will encourage the followers to give full participation and effort during games.
● PersonalityThe teacher will make sure to not create a team with many students who tend
to have a negative attitude. This could potentially put this team at a disadvantage, lead to offtask behavior, or ruin the chances of winning due to a poor demeanor.

Manager This student is in charge of talking to the coach and asking what materials will be needed. The Manager will collect the equipment and set it up where the coach wants. They can get help cleaning it up after practices, however, but will be reprimanded if there is leftover materials and equipment after activities. The statistician will update the season average after every class as well.

All of the other teams around Germany cycled clockwise, and were set up in a way that every team played each other three times. The wins and losses of every game will be reported to the teacher, and the teacher will keep an overall bracket of the wins, losses, and draws. The games will span over 8 classes, fitting in two 20 minute games per class.

Rules of Korfball Regular rules are next to solid dots, and how we will play is next to the empty circles.
Gameplay:
● Professional games have two 30 minute halves. ○ 4 quarters, each 4 minutes long, with 1 minute breaks in between.
● The objective is to score the most amount of goals possible. Offense:
● The players must keep both feet inside the outside boundaries at all times. If so much as a
toe goes over, then it will be considered out of bounds, and a turnover.
○ The ball cannot be passed back into the defensive backcourt once it crosses over
(similar to basketball.)
● When holding the ball, only one pivot foot is permitted.
● Walking and running is prohibited when in possession.
○ Momentum steps to slow down are acceptable up to three.
● No dribbling of any kind is allowed.
○ 15 second time limit when holding the ball.
● Scoring a “goal” is worth one point.
○ A shot from outside the 3point line is worth two points.
Defense:
● No body contact is allowed.
○ Must remain an arms distance away.
● Only allowed to slap the ball when it is in the air, not out of the handler’s hand.
● An interception causes a change in possession.
● Any loose balls are awarded to the first player to pick it up.
● Balls on the ground are still live.
● If a foul occurs, the person with the ball takes a penalty shot from the free throw line.

Clipper Shooting
● Teams will go head to head, shooting from three locations. ● The closest will be one point per basket, the middle will be two points per basket and the
farthest will be three point per basket. ○ Zone One Halfway down the key ○ Zone Two Free Throw Line ○ Zone Three Three Point Line
● Teams will shoot from each location for 45 seconds, and move back when the teacher blows the whistle once.
● Single file line, one person will shoot at a time, get their rebound, and then pass it back to the next person in line.
● Should move very quickly to get the most amount of opportunities. ● Two teams per court at a time, trying to make the most in the time limit. ● The fifth team will have a basket counter (using a tracking sheet) at each hoop, and a
timekeeper who will assist the teacher. ● Teams will take the amount of baskets they made at each station, and add up the total
amount of points .
45
-

cannot move to the next one without getting it through.
● Teams as a whole will be timed.
● When one pair returns, the next will start, trying to cut down on transition time.
● The team with the lowest time will be crowned as the winner.
● Students not holding a hula hoop or passing the ball will be expected to watch and cheer.
○ Make sure students make careful passes, not aiming for their classmates.

THE P.E. MESSENGER
America Take it All! Article by Matt Murdock April 2, 2015
Throughout the past few weeks, the Eagles from the United States of America have taken
the korfball court by an absolute storm. The team has put in a culminated effort to be the best
team that they could be. Lead by their coach and captain, Steve Rodgers, the Eagles have been
nearly unstoppable. The team has understood what makes them special, and utilized their
uncanny chemistry to the max. No one player did not have an important function on the team.
Eagles player Wade Wilson said “We were able to work together to crush the other
punks! But seriously, the leadership that Steve took on really allowed us to excel.”
When asked about his importance to the team, Steve replied “Honestly, I don’t think I
was any more important than the rest of the crew. Carol was the biggest teammate, always
bringing a bubbly attitude. Peter and Wade would use their sarcastic humor to liven the spirit,
and had a true chemistry as if they had been playing for years. Felicity was able to analyze any
defense, and tell me exactly what we must do to to gain the advantage. And Oliver, he was just
incredible. The best passer I’ve ever seen. Never threw the ball away, and could shoot a bullseye.
I was blessed to play with these fine teammates. I just did my part to try and bring out the best of
everybody.”
The eagles finished the regular season with an amazing record of 9 wins, 3 losses, and 0
draws. They started off 53, and won their last four. They really clicked, and it was a pleasure to
watch, (even with my own limited eyesight.) In the playoffs, the Eagles pushed to earn a record
of 3 wins and 1 loss. They were able to bring their chemistry in the playoffs, and make an
explosion so large that Albert Einstein would be proud!
