Employment and Vocational Services

• mcch Employment & Vocational services offer a range of provision, in which people with learning disabilities and people

with mental health issues are supported to be socially and economically active through a range of paid employment

options.

• For each individual accessing mcch services an Action Plan is created through a shared process based on the Individual

Placement & Support model (lPS model).

• On a daily basis mcch Employment and Vocational Services work with:

– 170 service users with mental health needs– 155 service users with a learning disability– 30 people from a homeless day centre– Working in deprived areas – Really positive outcomes– Making employment everybody’s business

effective and innovative vocational journey to employment for

people with severe and enduring mental health issues.”

“This project has been developed to work directly with employers and GP practices to develop early intervention supported employment initiatives for individuals with mental health issues accessing primary care services.”

One Stop Shop Overview

• The principle of the One Stop Shop is to combine all the functions needed for an individual to progress into employment and to create access to the services at one location. Some service delivery will take place in agreed community settings, as determined by action plans for each individual• Across the partnership we share agreed standards and processes, including; initial assessment, referral procedure and systems for review• Agreed targets which are shared across the partnership

• Reduce the number of individuals moving from Primary Care to Secondary Care Services

• Promote and improve health and well-being through employment and social inclusion

• Alleviate pressures from GP’s supporting individuals with mental health issues

• Supporting employers to retain their staff and therefore achieve the needs of their business

• To support cultural change with employers and all partner organisations

Services Provided

• Support employers and GP’s to ensure that individuals do not leave the workforce unnecessarily

• On-site expert advice to individuals and GP’s on employment and work related health issues

• Develop and establish communication pathways between GP’s and employers, ensuring greater support for employers, GP’s and individuals

• Providing ongoing support to employers in terms of conflict resolution, mental health awareness training and reasonable adjustments

• An experienced mcch staff team supporting both the individual and their employer in long term sustainable employment

• Peer Support Group and Blog• Signposting and Information, Advice and Guidance, for

each individual, in order to access appropriate support mechanisms, for example, Sign Post Kent, Counselling Services and Job Centre Plus

• Support employers to understand the benefits of health and well-being across their workforce through seminars, workshops and information sessions
