1.Head of department reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer
2.Responsible for the day to day management of the department
3. Responsible for delivery of efficient professional service, provision of quality patient care and a safe working environment for staff and patients
4.Performs range of examinations according to departmental protocols with maximum radiation safety measures
5.Assesses patients condition, identifies those requiring urgent attention and arranges for constant monitoring of critically ill patients by nursing staff
6.On call duty whenever required
7.Checks authenticity of radiology or ultrasound request forms before proceeding with the examination
8.Reviews all films for quality and content and identify problematic areas or trends
9.Construct and standardise radiographic technique charts for different x-ray exposures
10.Responsible for booking patients and ensuring proper and adequate patient preparation before special procedures
11.Responsible fro reporting all matters of relevance or concern to superiors particularly regarding breakdown of equipment or any new changes in the department
12.Prepares departmental annual report , recurrent expenditure estimates (budget) and monthly statistics and periodically submits statistics to relevant offices
13.Establishes intermediate and long term goals and objectives for departmental planning
14.Implements changes and improvements related to services, staffing and operation
15. Establish and run relevant assessment program for staff such as PBRS
16.Liaise with hospital administration and other units and wards to provide efficient services to the hospital
17.Inspects equipment to ensure they are clean and used according to manufacturers instructions
18.Monitor operation and supervise the maintenance of film processors and the photographic quality control
19. Evaluate and maintain radiographic screens, cassettes and grids, lead protections and accessories
20.Processes films whenever necessary or in the absence of the x-ray assistant
21.Responsible for ordering of consumables, stock control and inventory management
22. Radiation safety officer of the department overseeing quality control and radiation protection policies as established in the department
23.Distributes and collect personnel dosimeters and evaluates individual doses for all concerned employees
24.Liaises with the Department of Radiation Protection for the radiation monitoring of equipment and the department
25.Participates in continuous professional development activities (CPD)
26.Undertakes any other related duties as required to meet the exigencies of service
