The Prince Edward Island Brewing Company, founded in 2011 in the province’s capital of Charlottetown, is currently seeking a Procurement Coordinator & Quality Control Support to join our team.

THE SCOPE:Reporting to the Operations Manager and President, this position has a strong focus on relationships among suppliers, customers, and staff. Ensuring that low risk, high quality, and cost effective materials are available to brewing and packaging will help achieve these objectives. The job extends throughout the brewery and management team as quality is a focus in all aspects of PEI Brewing Company, Gahan, and MHG and requires daily coordination with operations manager, head brewer, and Gahan manager.

DUTIES:PROCUREMENT· Work with suppliers to ensure orders are processed and shipped in a timely fashion· Work with suppliers to manage upcoming material shortages or increased lead times· Work with delivery companies to schedule most cost effective shipments· Utilize EKOS Brewery software to track cost of goods, shipment costs and supplier changes· Asses shipments when they arrive to ensure orders are accurate and meet PEIBC quality standards· Asses suppliers bills against packaging slips to verify accuracy· Calculate costs of orders and charge invoices to appropriate accounts· Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs through use of EKOS and Kanban continuous improvement strategies· Monitor supplier performance, conducting NCMR reports when necessary· Act as primary liaison between MHG Marketing and packaging suppliers in regards to artwork requirements and acceptance· Work with various Liquor Commissions to access and finalize new packaging· Approve the ordering of brewing goods and services (Gahan support)· Coordinate new and ongoing changes to brand portfolio in regards to materials and regulatory compliance· Update cost of goods files dependent on supplier price changes, recipe changes or new product additions· Prepare petty cash reconciliation

QUALITY CONTROL SUPPORT (VACATION AND WEEKEND COVERAGE) · Cell counts, cell viability and microbiological plating · Microbiological sampling and classical plate counts · Daily testing of beer on packaging and quality parameters · Total package oxygen analysis of can and bottle production runs · Maintain and organize beer samples and the beer library · Provide clear and concise communication with brewers and packaging staff

THE REQUIREMENTS:· A passion and basic knowledge for beer· Basic working knowledge and experience working with computers and MS office software· Basic understanding of the brewing operation· Understanding and implementation of good laboratory practices· Highly organized with ability to multitask in a fast paced environment· Strong work ethic with ability to solve problems systematically· Ability to self manage · Understanding of multifaceted quality principles· Some evening and weekend work· Must be at least 19 years of age· Bachelor’s of Business specializing in procurement or procurement experience is considered an asset
