REASON FOR MEGA JOB FAIR 2016

Government of Tamil Nadu has started Vision 2023 which states that by the year 2023 Tamil Nadu will show an immense level of development of infrastructure as well as organize the skill development trainings at very menial costs or in some cases at no cost at all.

To make this vision successful the Government of Tamil Nadu has allocated Rs. 15 lakhs crores.

DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING

To achieve this, the Department of Employment and Training along with the Coimbatore district administration organizes the Government Mega Job Fair 2016 on 10th January 2016 at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.

EXPECTED TURNOVER

For this job fair more than 1 lakh candidates were expected to compete for 25,000 job vacancies from various fields including Information Technology, Hardware, Textile units, BPOs, Medicine, Industrial Training, Engineering, and Teaching in more than 500 companies in public and private sectors .

DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED

All the departments of the Coimbatore district administration were involved in the process

The planning and the organizing work by the respective department were initiated at least two weeks back.

Parking facilities were arranged at 11 areas in and around the college

Special buses were operated specially for the job fair from all parts of Tamil Nadu

Job applicants form was distributed to all the job seekers through ration shops, government schools and colleges, ruling party offices, various administration departments

Parents of the job seekers were not allowed to enter the campus

TASMAC shops in and around the area was closed

Various companies from various fields like Information Technology, Hardware, Textile units, BPOs, Medicine, Industrial Training, Engineering, and Teaching in public and private sectors came as employers

Special transportation for the handicapped job seekers were employed within the campus.

Few stalls like self employment, private food and snacks stalls were installed

Advertisement holdings were placed at the various places within and around the college.

The companies attending the job fair were asked to register and were allocated the stalls and the class rooms of the college premises

The blocks were segmented based on the fields of the companies

The job seekers were given the map of the building and the note on the list of companies and their location inside the college

The job seekers were not allowed to attend other companies in case they register their offer letter at the Krishna Hall.

The facilitators were given their respective ID cards and were only allowed only if they show them

The college ID cards were not accepted after 8:00 am onwards

The food for all the facilitators, policemen and the employers were provided by the government

Various help desks were deployed at the various places to help the job seekers and the employers

The event started at 7:00 am and was completed at 6:00 pm and 10,155 job seekers were given job oppurtunities.

CATERING DEPARTMENT

The contract was taken by Vinayaka Catering services More than 160 employees were employed by the

contractor The cooking process started the previous night of the job

fair The menu to be served was tamarind rice, tomato rice,

curd rice Only branded items were used for cooking Personally monitored by the friends of minister, Mr.

S.P.Velumani.

MUNICIPALITY DEPARTMENT

Implemented the activities of public health department

Large number of workers were deployed for the cleaning and maintenance work

Fogging process, Chlorination process were performed at the regular basis.

4 Hospital on Wheel were deployed near the catering area, entrance area, arts department area.

Charted the preventive measures The deputy director and the director of public

health department were co-ordinating and monitoring the entire process via phones.

Alternative arrangements were spot on.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

1000 police men were deployed specially for the mega job fair

Police men from the neighboring districts were deployed

They were accomodated at the nearby government schools, marriage halls, party offices etc.

The entire security of the entire area came under the control of our policemen as the college security were also deployed for the facilitation work

POLICE DEPARTMENT As there were more than one lakh people in the Palakkad

road, Coimbatore the traffic goes haywire and it was more than the normal day traffic.

The traffic from Ukkadam to Sri Krishna College was moving like a snail and it became uncontrollable from 8 am.

The state government had diverted the free transport service of more than 100 buses from various parts of the Coimbatore city to carry people to the college.

Around 12.30 pm the traffic became so worst that the traffic cops had diverted the traffic via Kovaipudur, only vehicles for job fair have been allowed to that highway.

COLLEGE DEPARTMENT The faculty of all the departments were assigned

certain specific blocks to facilitate Each faculty were given certain number of

volunteers to assist them Certain students were also given walky talky for

the communication purpose Mock drill were conducted for the students two

days before the event to get familiar the entrusted roles and responsibilities.

and the officials Placing for the employers to exhibit their

holdings and the posters Clear role definition Provision of water bottles along with the food

packets Availability of stationery goods at each and

every block Provision of temporary mobile towers More number of volunteers.
