Finding  &  Checking  Out  Books  

   

 

 Go   to   www.csufresno.edu/library   and   use   the  library’s  search  box  to  find  a  book.      Write  down  the  call  number  and  location  of  your  book.   Most   books   are   on   the   Lower   Level  (basement)  of  the  library.    

   

   Using  your  book’s  call  number,  find  the  call  number  range  in  which  the  book  is  located.    

   

 

 Each  book  in  the  library  is  assigned  its  own  unique  call  number  using  the  Library  of  Congress  classification  system.  Call  numbers  contain  a  combination  of  letters  and  numbers  to  arrange  books  by  subject.    

   

 

   

Read  the  first  line  in  alphabetical  order.    Read  the  second  line  as  a  whole  number.    The  third  and  fourth  lines  are  a  combination  of  letters  and  numbers.  Read  alphabetically,  then  numerically.
