    General Information

JME Ltd based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, UK has established itself as a leading manufacturer of pipeline x-ray andgamma crawlers. The JME pipeline crawlers are designed to produce high quality panoramic radiographs of

circumferential butt welds in new pipelines from 3 to 72. These units are designed and proven, both onshoreand offshore, to work as a fully self contained, self powered exposure vehicle. There are no trailing leads and allcommands are executed from outside the pipeline using a low activity isotope. The units can be commanded totravel, stop and radiograph as required. Crawler tracking, so that the position and direction of travel of the crawlercan be monitored, is achieved either by mounting a low activity tracker isotope on the crawler or by using JMEsunique non-isotope tracking system. Four X-ray and three gamma crawler systems are available; X-ray crawlersizes are 6/16 (6 to 16), 8/18 (8 to 18), 10/60 (10 to 60) and 24/72 (24 to 72) and Gamma crawler sizes are3/6 (3 to 6), 6/18 (6 to 18) and 10/48 (10 to 48). A wealth of design and field operating experience has beendrawn upon in the development and manufacture of these crawlers, which are efficient, versatile and highlyreliable. JME Ltd offer a complete service of manufacture, training, operating and refurbishment of their crawlersystems.

    Application

The 10/60 X-ray Crawler is available with Balteau 160kV, 200kV, 300kV or Yxlon 200kV constant potential tubeoptions, for use in non-destructive testing for detection of defects in new pipeline butt welds. The 10/60 X-rayCrawler is a compact modular unit suitable for use onshore or offshore in a wide variety of climatic conditions, inpipelines of nominal diameter from 10 to 60 inches. Alternative X-ray tubes or Gamma projectors can be fitted, please contact JME Ltd with your requirements.
