Prayer GuideDecember ’20 & January ’21

“The Word became human and made his home among us. He wasfull of unfailing love and faithfulness... God’s unfailing love andfaithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God.But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’sheart. He has revealed God to us.” John 1:14, 17-18

If we aren’t a�en�ve in our reading of Scripture, we may come tobelieve that the God of the Old Testament is somewhat different incharacter than what we see displayed in Jesus in the NewTestament. That would be bad theology. God has always been theGod of “hesed”. Hesed is this strange Hebrew word that God saysis the very essence of his character. Hesed requires several Englishwords to adequately convey its full meaning: grace, mercy,compassion, love, and faithfulness are the most common.

Christmas reminds us that the God of hesed came to be with us. Tolive with us. To show us God’s heart. To reveal just how God felttowards us. And ul�mately to bring about redemp�on for us, andall crea�on; so he could always be with us. May God’s heart, asrevealed in Jesus, guide your prayers this month.

Shelli has been working at thechildren’s home three times aweek, helping with school. Prayas she ministers to the kids, notjust helping them with academicneeds but emotional andspiritual needs as well. Greg hasbeen preaching the odd time andis running the constructionproject at Arbol de Vida. Pray ashe has contact with manyworkers who do not yetunderstand the love Jesus hasfor them and their need for him.

The grinding effects of povertyare magnified by this healthcrisis the world is facing. CentralAmerica in particular is feelingthe effects of a very activehurricane season. Pray forshelter, health, employment, andhearts open to recognize thehope we have through Jesus.

We are serving as as guidanceand adviser for two recentlyformed mission groups. We prayfor being able to meet regularly,encourage each other, andparticipate in missionengagements locally whenpossible. We pray people willparticipate and meaningfullyengage in missionary outreachwith a new mission fellowship westarted. All our training in Chinawith the House Churches arethrough ZOOM right now.Wepray it will remain safe for theparticipants in China.

We are currently on HomeAssignment in Three Hills, ABuntil the end of March 2021.
