The hall was filled to the brimwith amazing science equipment that included electric circuits, robots and magnetic mazes. Pyramid Contest

Inquiry Question: What is the biggest pyramid you can make byan A3 piece of paper?

Year 6H students spent most of two days working out how theycould build the biggest pyramid.

They faced many challenges, but in the end they pulledthrough. Even though there were many pyramids consideredas the biggest, the 6H students made a final decision thata group with a triangular-based tetrahedron, had the largestpyramid in the class. The measurements of each edge of thetriangular faces were 25.5cm exactly. Though the tetrahedronwas recognised as the biggest, the whole class agreed thatthere was more than one winner as everyone had a differentinterpretation of the ambiguous word 'biggest'. Some pyramidswere the biggest because they were the tallest (45cm), theheaviest (4kg), the widest (25.5cm) or had the most volume(1216cm3) and capacity (181 blocks). As you can all believe, itwas a very hard decision to choose which pyramid would bethe biggest. What does biggest mean to you?

ANIMAL FREE DRESS DAY

Recently we had another free dress day to help raise money forour fete. Both students and staff again got involved.

After School CareIt has been a couple of busy weeks here atSACP – with our two most recent themesbeing Journey through the Continents andhat activities around the story ‘I got this Hat’which featured in National SimultaneousStorytime on Wednesday. As part of ourjourney to different continents we have collected coins from 40different countries and marked these on our map. These are ondisplay in the Hall Foyer – thank you to the families who haveloaned these to us. Of the more interesting currencies are somefrom Cuba and North Korea.

We are still seeking plastic bottle tops forour school 50 Year Anniversary Sign. If youhave any at home it would be great to helpus recycle and reuse these. You can leavethem in the container in the school Office.

Of Special interest at the last P&C Meeting, the P&C have overwhelmingly decided tokeep the SACP Program as a part of theP&C Operations rather than outsourcing. The process has nowbegun to seek candidates to replace the Co-ordinator (as Terryhas indicated he is moving on to other opportunities in August). We will keep you up to date as this progresses.
