The past year, 2012, was an exciting one for me, with a number of great opportunities for a variety of clients, both new friends and familiar colleagues, as well as a number of exciting events. 2. Happy New Year from Jim DeLorenzo & Jim DeLorenzoPublic Relations! The past year, 2012, was an exciting one for me,with a number of great opportunities for a variety of clients,both new friends and familiar colleagues, as well as a number ofexciting events. On the following pages youll see some photos I tookalong the way at various events, as well as videos and clips.Some of the clients I worked on projects for, during2012, included: 3. In January 2012, I began working with Rich Masterson, Jordan Lieberman, Jeff Dittus andothers on their team at CampaignGrid to broaden their earned media coverage during the2012 election cycle. During that engagement, which continued until mid-May, I was on-siteseveral days per week and worked to gain them national media coverage. I also assistedthe company with the planning and execution of a few trade show marketing opportunities.On Friday, February 17th, CampaignGrid was featured in two articles -- an overview of the2012 Presidential election campaign in The Guardian, and an overview of"hyperlocal" campaign advertising in Street Fight.On Monday, February 20th, the New York Times featured CampaignGrid in an article aboutonline data helping campaigns. CampaignGrid was also mentioned in Adweeks January11th issue. 4. In addition, I worked on re-purposing existing video tape to create the first CampaignGridvideo explaining how the company works, for use on their website and in promotionalmaterials online and in trade shows.Click on screen below to watch the video. In February, I worked closely with my long-term client, EasternPennsylvania Youth Soccer to create their 40th Anniversary Celebration atthe Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown. The associations first awardsgala, I helped organize events including providing formerPhiladelphia Flyers great Bill Clement in the keynote presentation, formerPhiladelphia sports broadcaster Lou Tilley as Master of Ceremonies, andSpecial guest appearance by Ben Franklin. 6. Working with the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series for a second consecutive year,I worked hard to get this uniquely Philadelphia sports property significant EarnedMedia Coverage in local, regional and national press (including the PhiladelphiaInquirer, Rowing News, the Camden Courier and others in the Mid-Atlantic corridor. Amajor highlight was a prime feature story on Comcast Sports Net (and the ComcastNetwork) called Drawn to Water. For the second consecutive year, I was thePhiladelphia public relations agency working on behalf ofthe Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, one of the largestpop-culture gatherings on the East Coast. Over the past twoyears the event has broken attendance records, and Iveworked closely with Wizard Worlds corporate team to garnerGreater Earned Media Coverage in a wide variety of media,with special emphasis on Philly & suburban radio, television,print and online (particularly bloggers on pop culture). Iveeven moderated panel discussion at Wizard World PhiladelphiaComic Con the past two years, an honor I treasure. Coverageon NBC 10, 6 ABC, FOX 29 and CBS 3 as well as MyPHL17, andscores of local radio gave a great boost to this years event. 8. Media coverage of 2012 Wizard WorldPhiladelphia Comic Con included: The Incredible Hulks Lou Ferrigno on CBS 3smorning news (top left); FOX 29s Chris OConnellon the scene (top right) and NBC 10s Bill Henleyinterviewing celebrity guest Kristy Swanson(bottom left). 9. I have had the honor and privilege to work withESPN Founder Bill Rasmussen on avariety of projects since late May 2008.That work continued in 2012, with a multi-cityradio interview tour (with the assistance of JohnWeber at Premiere Radio) as well as a wide-rangeof public speaking engagements across the country.Over the past several years I have booked Mr.Rasmussen on several local, regional & nationalradio and television shows as well as a great manyprint and online media interviews. In 2012, ESPN Founder Bill Rasmussens nationalspeaking tour took him to Union College, DePauwUniversity, Azusa Pacific University, University ofConnecticut, University of Kansas, Rutgers University,The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,University of South Carolina, Wichita State University& Auburn University. He also spoke at a number of privateand corporate events, including The Build NetworkConference in Miami.In October 2012, another chapter in Rasmussens illustriouscareer began when he was named Executive in Residence atThe Robert C. McDermond Center for Management &Entrepreneurship at DePauw University. Also in early October,Rasmussen delivered a lecture at DePauw University as partof the colleges 175th anniversary Distinguished AlumniLecture Series. In addition, Rasmussen received theDistinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Media, and wasinducted into the Media Wall of Fame,at the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media atDePauw University. On Wednesday, July 26, 2012, I conducted a dayof media training, along with guidelineson public speaking, for a group of editorsand staff at RUNNERS WORLD on thecampus of Rodale in Emmaus, PA.A version of my PowerPoint slides for thatday is available by clicking here. 13. In February & March, 2012, I worked with mycolleagues at Group G Direct to promote the openingof the first two GreenDrop Charitable DonationsCenter locations, the first in Aston (ribbon cuttingceremony at top left) and the second in Westtown(both suburban Philadelphia). GreenDrop CharitableDonations Center is a new, more efficient and greenway to donate to veterans.This new breed of charitable donation center takesrepurposed former gas stations located in a mainbusiness district, bringing new jobs, additional taxrevenues, and an easy, new way for the community torecycle clothing, blankets, small appliances andhousewares in both a responsible and charitable way.Items donated at the new GreenDrop CharitableDonations Center benefit Purple HeartVeterans, fundingprograms, services, welfare, rehabilitation andeducation initiatives for all veterans of the United 14. Ive been working with Philadelphia entrepreneur and actor Rob DeVitis and his advisors sinceNovember 2011, providing public relations support and getting some bookings for him in his role asThe young and witty Ben Franklin. He has become a big hit in the historic city of Philadelphia where he first came to prominence all those years ago as well as beyond the region.The young & witty Ben Franklin served as a special guest ice cream scooper alongside formerPennsylvania Governor/former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell and other local celebrities during thePhiladelphia Business Journals special benefit for Habitat for Humanity at Bassetts Ice Cream Co. inthe landmark Reading Terminal Market in Center City Philadelphia. The young and witty BenFranklin, along with Governor Rendell and other local celebrities, were on hand as "celebrity icecream scoopers" at the event (Thursday, May 17, 2012) celebrating the Philadelphia Business Journals30th Anniversary. 15. Among many special appearances for the young & witty Ben Franklin in 2012, he was the guestmaster of ceremonies at the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Associations Benjamin Franklin Award forDirect Marketing Excellence at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ (6/7); appeared at Bemidji StateUniversity in Minnesota to celebrate Constitution Day (September 17th); greeted participants at theLeukemia & Lymphoma Society (Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter) Light the Night Walk at the PhiladelphiaMuseum of Art (October 27th); and presented the opening remarks for the 2012 American Council on theTeaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Annual Convention and World Languages Expo at thePennsylvania Convention Center (November 16th).Another notable achievement for the young & witty Ben Franklin was his role appearing on billboardsand other advertising in the Greater Philadelphia region promoting the 16th Annual March of DimesSignature Chefs Gala Presented by Lincoln Financial Group, which was held on November 16th at thePlease Touch Museum. The young and witty Ben Franklin also appeared in person at the gala, whichfeatured Philadelphias premier restaurants and chefs raising funds for the March of Dimes with anevening of food and the annual Signature Chefs Auction. 16. In addition, the young and witty Ben Franklin became aPreferred Vendor of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureauto provide additional resources to conventions, groups, andmeetings planning to hold events in the Philadelphia area.Also this past fall, the young and witty Ben Franklin beganoffering A Walk with Ben, available by advanced reservationfor group tours. A Walk with Ben is a new walking tour withthe young and witty Ben Franklin along with the best tourguides in Philadelphia, throughout the historic Old CityPhiladelphia district. Its the only tour in Philadelphia where youcan be accompanied by the young and witty Ben Franklin.Other highlights included entertaining Governor Rendell andover 200 guests at a reception for the North American SoutheastAsia Bar Association Convention at the Pennsylvania ConventionCenter (June 28th); presenting the awards to the winning rowersat the 132nd Independence Day Regatta (July 1); serving as thetour guide for over a dozen International representatives of RESSoftware on a bus tour of the region; presenting the prestigiousBenny trophy to the winning club at the annual PhiladelphiaYouth Regatta, part of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series onthe historic Schuylkill River (July 21st) and delivering thewelcoming remarks and meeting guests in attendance at theNational Association of Power Engineers Convention at thePennsylvania Convention Center (July 25th). 17. I worked with Bulldog Construction Co., Inc.in Coatesville, PA in the fall of 2012 on somepublic relations strategies, includingpromotion of their work installing theMilltown Crossing pedestrian bridge inDowningtown, PA. 18. For the second consecutive year I was honored to be a member of the Lancaster Organizing Committeefor the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, hosted by my client, Eastern Pennsylvania YouthSoccer. Working in concert with US Youth Soccer, the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & VisitorsBureau, and Eastern PA Youth Soccer, I generated significant Earned media coverage for the weeklongevent (Thursday, June 28th through Tuesday, July 3rd) with a total of 444 soccer matches with 260 teamsfrom 12 states along the East Coast. I was also honored to be the public address announcer/master ofceremonies for the second consecutive year. This years opening ceremonies were conducted at ClipperMagazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, home of the minor league Lancaster Barnstormers. 19. Personal highlights from 2012 including presenting atthe Philadelphia Sports Writers Association annualbanquet and reuniting with friends from The Villanovanat a special event at Villanova Universitys FalveyMemorial Library. 22.
