Many excited children (and grandchildren!) of Jester residents gathered at Jester Club in anticipation of finding eggs filled with candy and surprises. Their faces lit up as they got to meet and get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny himself! Children of all ages enjoyed many games and activities. Probably the biggest hit was the petting zoo, where the kiddos were actually able to hold and cuddle many of the little animals. It was a morning enjoyed by adults and children alike, and we were truly blessed by a beautiful day in all respects. Many Jester residents were willing to give of their time and energy to create memories for your children. Thanks to Eva Wisser, Phil Kolman, Pam Cassidy, Jenny Davila, Julie & Sage Stoakley, Michelle Gonzalez, Chris Diaz and Rosie Botello, A note of appreciation also goes out to Cookie Bandel with Jester Club. It’s great to have the support of the club in making this a successful event. Please let me know if you (Continued on Page 2) The President’s Corner The Saturday before Easter weekend was a beautiful day and we had the largest crowd I can recall at the Easter Festival sponsored by JHA. The kids really love this event we hold at the Jester Club facility each year. An Easter egg hunt, petting zoo, and pictures with the Easter bunny are a few of the attractions. Remember if you have a pet, you can have it entered in the pet registry on the JHA web site. Instructions are at the top of the pet registry page at www. jesterneighbors.com. Please remember, if you are planning changes to the exterior of your home and you live in the jurisdiction of JHA (so Canyon Ridge properties are excluded), you need to notify the JHA Architectural Control Committee (ACC) of your desired modifications and provide the ACC the information necessary to review and approve you project. These include any additions/changes to your home, such as fences, pools, major landscaping, retaining walls, and any freestanding structure you intend to place in your yard. Playscapes fall into this latter category. Our deed restrictions are very explicit and enforcement of violations is an important charge of the homeowners association. So please be sure to contact Carol Wolf Management, our property manager, at 258-8200 for the correct procedure to get your proposed changes to the ACC. Till next time – Philip Kolman

FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DROWNING

For more information, check out our website at

www.colinshope.org

Drowning is the leadingcause of unintentional

injury-related deathin children ages 1-4

Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of unintentional injury-related death ages 1-14.

DROWNING WILL AFFECT YOUOR SOMEONE YOU KNOW

Most children are out of sight or missing for less than 5 minutes and usually in the presence of 1 or both parents.

NO ONE is “drown proof” – no matter their level of swimming ability.

Falls, entrapments, and injuries lead to drowning regardless of swimming level.

A majority of people overestimate their own and their child’s ability to swim, especially in a panic event.

5min

Drowning occurs in as little as 2 minutes.

Most children die who are submerged for as little as 6-10 minutes.

Irreversible brain damage occurs in as little as 4 minutes.

2min 4min 6min

Children who drown do not scream, splash, or struggle. They silently slip beneath the water, even with adults & lifeguards present.

DROWNING IS QUICK AND SILENT

DROWNING CAN STILL OCCUREVEN IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SWIM
