    Franklin Citing the power of opportunity Jessie Rodriguez of Franklin announced

    her intent to run for the 21st Assembly District, the seat held by the recently-resignedRep. Mark Honadel (R-Oak Creek).

    I am a firm believer that while we cant always choose our circumstances, we can makeour own opportunities. Throughout my life Ive turned challenges into successes and Iwant to take what Ive learned to help make sure our government doesnt stand in theway of opportunities for small businesses, families and ourchildren, said Rodriguez inher address to family, friends and supporters.

    When asked to consider running for office, Ill admit it took me by surprise. But theencouragement and support I have received from so many people has helped merealize that this is the right choice. I have helped parents transform the lives of their

    children and I will apply that experience towards helping the people of the 21st

    AssemblyDistrict.

    In the past three years, Jessie has worked with parents and schools across the stateadvocating for parental rights and empowerment.

    Listening to parents, identifying their needs, and helping their families find solutionsand support drives everything Jessie does, said Jason S. Crye, Executive Director ofHispanics for School Choice. Her humility, strong work ethic and passion for thecommunity are qualities which make her perfect to represent the 21st district.

    Jessie was born in El Salvador and moved to the US with her family in 1986 in the midst

    of a civil war. Coming to America provided many opportunities for Jessie and herfamily. Hard work and a dedication to education was the key to capitalizing on thoseopportunities. Excelling in school, Jessie graduated from Hamilton High after threeyears and enrolled into Marquette University on an academic scholarship. She receiveda B.A. from Marquette in Communications Studies, which she now puts to use as anoutreach coordinator for Hispanics for School Choice a nonprofit organization thathelps low-income parents find schools for their children. Her work for on behalf ofHispanics for School Choice has helped create opportunities for not only her 3 year old

    son Noah, but also thousands of Wisconsin families on the issue of education andparental choice. Jessie and her husband Aaron, an area firefighter, are residents ofFranklin.

    Jessie expressed her gratitude to Rep. Mark Honadel for being a leader on educationand a good steward of taxpayer money.

    Rep. Honadel is a great example of leadership; hes humble, willing to listen, and fightsfor the taxpayers, she said.

    Jessie stressed that her approach to representing the 21st district will hinge on gettingthings done, which means building relationships and listening to the community.

    I realize that not everyone will agree on every issue, but I promise to be fair,considerate, and weigh each issue carefully to best represent the taxpayers of the 21stDistrict.
